I think 'Sheer Heart Attack' was my first hearing of Queen.
I have the Greatest Hits 1 and 2 but they don't get played too often

Bealman

Yeah, when I arrived in Australia in 74, they were already known here. I was never a huge fan, but bought several of their albums during the seventies.

Then I sorta went off them, until seeing Brian May and Roger Taylor performing at the 2012 closing ceremony in London perked my interest again, as did the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.

With his guitar skills and a PhD in astrophysics to boot, May is definitely a hero of mine!
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

Train Waiting

Sammy Davis Jr - what a performer:-

Anent the discussion about Queen, I saw them perform twice at the 'Apollo' in Glasgow in the mid-seventies.  Very good indeed.

With all good wishes

John

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1930s to the 1950s.

I prefer the reggae version of Mr Bojangles by John Holt :

Memories of Rebeccas night club in Birmingham in the 70s

An excellent choice John @Train Waiting and an excellent performer. SD Jr. popped up regularly on TV entertainment programmes during the sixties and I liked his style.

I have seen Queen twice, once in Windsor (Home Park) and once at a garden party at Buck Palace!

Sammy Davis Jnr. The Rat Pack springs to mind.

@Train Waiting , I rather like Mr Bojangles which has been covered by countless people.
The SDJ version is pretty good as is the reggae offering  by John Holt as suggested by @joe cassidy .

My own favourite is by Nina Simone :

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Rare Bird

Quite a few people of "a certain age" will probably remember Sympathy by Rare Bird from the early 70s.
However, that single was a bit of a one off and failed to represent their best work in my opinion.
They were one of my favourite bands of the period but strangely I failed to see them live which is a great shame.
Here is Epic Forest which I perceive as their finest work and best album :

You're quite right, Martin. I have the track 'Sympathy' but have not heard anything else so I'll be giving that a listen
 :thankyousign:

Moonglum

I discovered this band about 10 years ago and have this live album. Heather Findley left to pursue a solo career which hasn't really taken off (IMO). Anyway, here is Mostly Autumn with "Evergreen!

They also do the odd cover, here is PF's Echoes Pt 1 (for @Trainfish )...

and Part 2

Cheers,

Tim

Trainfish

To be fair those were pretty darned good. Almost as good as when Aussie Floyd do it. I will of course be seeing Aussie Floyd again next November in Bath as the tickets go on sale on Wednesday this week

Some like the 'soft rock' of The Doobie Brothers such as 'Long Train Runnin'' and 'Listen to the music' but I prefer the darker, more rocky side of them such as...........

Here are a couple of mash ups. Not sure about the Zeppelin Brothers but the 2nd one is a great combo of two favourite pop tracks
