Yeah, I don't get it.  We Yanks fought for our independence so that we wouldn't have to care about a royal baby and yet it's all over the "news" here.  I actually wonder if it's less about the baby and more about if the mother will revert to being as thin as a stick now that little junior has popped out.

I certainly hope not.  She could do with putting on a few pounds.

my view is coincident with a comment on TV this evening :-
if choosing a head of state by "first born" is such a good idea then can we look forward to lots of hereditory little Camerons as future PMs ?

What a lot of fawning going on.

To wish the family well is fair enough on a personal and  humanitarian etc&etc basis of course.
But to accept them as default head of state forever is going a tad too far !
Well, I mean,,, once upon a time we had the option of changing the family (remember Lancaster, York, Stuart even ! ) what chance now,,, stuck with them !
That is only partly tongue-in-cheek !!!!!

They're married,they do things and a baby is born,lots of people do the same and we hear nothing about it.Who cares,they're people just like you and me,albeit with a bit of status.

To balance things up a touch,I haven't heard or read a single thing about World Supersport Championship rider,Andrea Antonello's very premature and tragic death during the Supersport race in Russia on sunday.

The original topic was not political, it's a piece of news about a baby so is perfectly suitable

However, some of the replies are getting political and we do not want a monarchy V republic debate starting up

As for the news coverage it's always the same, more time given to 'celebrity' goings-on or some sports thing rather than REAL important news, hence why I never watch TV news or read the papers
