I couldn't resist another 600 warship at £89.50 from Rails of Sheffield, and added weathering. it arrived a couple of days ago and this is the first chance that I have had to show it off.

this is the first time that I have added basic weathering to a diesel loco and I think that it's not bad at all. as for the bogies? 5 minutes work with a swiss file - It took me longer to  get the body off to switch off the cab lights (I wonder why Farish ship DC locos with them on?)

As I normally scratch/kit build etc it's not often I buy anything new but have just received my G. Fawkes gunpowder van. Definitely a rule 1 purchase but a cracking model with livery beautifully applied  :)

I received the replacement keeper plates for my D601 from Bachmann today - very speedy delivery. Simple enough to swap with the dodgy ones, and at the same time I popped the body off to fit a chip and permanently switch of the cab lights (as they wouldn't seem to turn off using F3 and 4 as shown on the instructions).

It has been running in for a couple of hours now, the mechanism is very smooth and quiet. Aside from the "hiccup" with the bogies it must be said it is a very nice model indeed.

The 'Guido Fawkes' gunpowder van and triple pack of Iron Minks in BR (W) arrived today.
Very, very nice and free running.

After seeing the Trumpton inspired wagons produced by Robbie Burns elsewhere on the forum, I thought I'd ask if he could extend the set to make a rake of eight which is needed for an Inglenook shunting puzzle layout. I think he's come up trumps (or should that be Trumptonshire!).

Hi Mac

I e-mailed Bachmann at service@bachmann-europe.co.uk requesting the redesigned replacement bogie keeper-plates.

They will require a copy of proof of purchase to be attached to the e-mail (receipt from Kernow in my case) and your name and address.

It was all then handled in a typically Bachmann way, very efficiently and professionally.

Regards

Roy

Thank you Roy!

Just got my new-tool Dapol M7. It's definitely better than the old one. It can now (just, with a ton of wheel slip) pull TWO whole 4 wheel coaches on the flat instead of just one. It needs help to get started with three.

EtchedPixels

The old ones would pull a decent enough load if you adjusted the springing on the rear bogie to stop it lifting the loco off. It's really tricky as the slighest bit out one way and no traction, the other no pickup. Weight also fixes it - the LNER G5 white metal kit over one has great traction.

Hmmmmm....That does not seem very good haulage for a Mk 2 Dapol M7.  When I received mine in 2023, it would easily pull six GF Mk 1 coaches around Peco third radius curves.
