No railsquid I don't balance the glass of wine on the 'tender behind' the A3! I grasp the glass in one hand and hold on to something stable with the other! A horse I think!

Probably not in 'real life' but my layout is gonna be a Rule 1 preserved railway - so if I had any Maunsells they'd be fair game to run behind an A3 and any other loco!!

Running in done for 2 hours while listening to Radio 4 with a glass of wine - what more could a man want (please don't answer that!)
Perfect performance -much quieter now. Really pleased, just like the special offer A3 I bought from Dapol last month.
I must say it is really encouraging to get locos that work out of the box for a change - 4 in a row now - one Farish and 3 Dapol. Maybe Farish and Dapol do read whats on this forum. Anyway - whatever - couldn't be more happy right now.

and RTR Rocket in N gauge would be an immediate impulse buy for a lot of modellers I think :)

Agreed.  For a brief moment I thought this was N gauge and wondered how I could get one.  I'd love a Rocket in N.

In the model world you can run anything behind an A3 but in the real world I would say  :no:

There were Maunsell sets created for inter-company services (Bournemouth-Newcastle/Leeds/Bradford being one), but I doubt that when they got to the LNER they were powered by anything as exalted as an 'A' class loco...

Someone on the forum's actually done one with the sensible option of putting the motor in the first coach.
