Why some of us are not getting on with our layouts

Going to the pictures to watch the latest James Bond movie, 'Skyfall,' to which bealman awarded 5 stars.

Anyway it prompted him to dig around in the desk in the study to locate an old Christmas pressie a young bealman received circa 1965 or so. It was lovingly moved to Australia with aforesaid desk and other stuff upon his parents passing in 1990.

Yep, it's the original Bond DB 5 that featured in 'Goldfinger' and yet again in the latest one! Still in the original box complete with secret documents!!!

For some reason, Corgi decided to paint it gold instead of silver. Anyway, it still works - machine guns and rammers come out the front, bullet-proof screen comes up at the back, and of course the ejector seat catapults the baddie into the air. There is even a spare baddie in the box!

Unfortunately, it ain't N scale.

He is wondering if there is such a thing - an N scale Aston Martin DB5? If so, a cameo could appear on the Beal & Castle Eden Railway.... a Skyfall house on the moors with flashing lights, smoke generators and explosion sounds! One of the push button animated effects he has discussed on this forum in the past!

Or maybe bealman is totally losing the plot.......

One of those Corgi mint DB5's was sold for £265 in 2010 at Bonhams.

I remember going to buy this model from the local toy shop a long long time ago.
I had save for weeks to get the cash together.

Busy sorting out what I want to keep and what I want to get rid of. Trying to rationalise my N gauge stock. May also get rid of some of my Japanese buildings.
Need the space as my grand-daughter is now living with us full time.

In relation to Jack's post above about the Bond car, the link to the auction site is awesome- but I always find myself in a catch-22 situation when it comes to things like that.... I've never considered myself to be a hoarder, but if someone wants the thing that badly that they are willing to fork out that sort of money, then I want it MORE!!! Still, that price equates roughly to 500 Aussie bucks.....

Except for fitting lights under my top layout so my bottom layout is illuminated I have been doing very little.

Even though my shed is insulated with 1 inch thick refrigeration sheets it is still far to hot to do anything during the day unless you are naked and have a carton of bottled water on hand, outside it is 39C or 102F in the shed it is much hotter

I can believe that, Dave - been very warm down south here in Sydney too. Your shed... wood or metal? I'm going to get a shed soon but no way would I consider metal!

G'Day George, I bought a Stratco steel shed with a green roof, for what I spent I could have built a reasonable timber shed, to late now though its been up for 4 - 5 years, the insulation helps a lot but I cant handle the really hot weather, 39C tomorrow but we have a beautiful sea breeze.

I've not been getting on with my layout because I've been in the poo - quite literally!

I had a ton of manure delivered for the garden. I didn't really know what a ton of manure looked like and, when it was delivered, it was a bit like a total eclipse with what little sun we have being obscured by a mass of brown descending from the heavens. And the torrential rain that followed did not help matters either.

Anyway the mound of muck started out about the size of Mt Everest and gradually I was able to to whittle it down before I was able to sculpt it into something that resembles the Needles (rocks off the Isle of Wight) before the last bits were removed. Luckily neighbours bought some of the manure off me and helped me shift it.

Each time I went out to shovel the, er, poo (this is a family forum), i managed to get myself covered in it including my face. Someone then told me that my complexion was looking lovely - so maybe manure is a cheaper remedy for the face than some of the expensive stuff that the department stores sell!

It also reminded me so much of dear old Blaster Bates who regularly went round blowing up septic tanks etc

I'm not getting on with my layout because I'm building a OO (Sorry!

) gauge layout for my four year old Grandson for Christmas - and I'm running out of time! Anyone got a cheap single road engine shed and/or goods shed they want rid of?

Oh happy days! Thanks for a great reminder of days gone by. Liserning to Blaster Bates always made good entertainment in the barrack block during those nights leading up to pay day.

That is absolutely brilliant Pengy, you have a wonderful sense of humor, they say a picture paints a thousand words but just a few words from you paints a wonderful picture, thanks for putting a smile on this old dial first thing in the morning
