Oooh.  Green Deltics, and looks like a date (ish) against the green and wasp-stripes gronk that seems to have been "coming soon" everywhere for ages.  I'm supposed to be spending my money on tools and scenery and electronics and stuff to actually *build* my layout, but those may well tempt.  And having seen my soldering attempts trying to put droppers onto track at the weekend, I'm not sure I'm up to chipping the 08 just yet...

Chipping the 08 isn't as daunting as it seems the pickups are the worst problem ivd found little more practise you'll be ready,,,

Oh dear... oh dear oh dear.....

So now my shopping list includes a new Clan Line, Blue Peter, City of Birmingham... and that's on top of the other locos I want to buy! Royal Air Force, Standard 4MT tank, Bahamas.... maybe a Black 5. I think my bank account is in a lot of trouble!

Still, I like the look of the new lineup :)

Had a faint hope that a SWT Blue Desiro might have been announced - as there are about three times the number of this variant over the London Midland variety.
They have not even announced the 450 in 00 yet so we will probably have to wait a little while. My guess is that they do not want to risk flooding the market. If you really want to crack on there are people selling body-side decal conversions on eBay (no endorsements, just an observation).

My next (even fainter hope) hope is that Dapol announce the Pendolino or an Electrostar.
My guess is that Dapol will wait to see how Farish's Blue Pullman and Desiro sell before making any moves on long-rake models like this.

However what I would really like is some suburban coaches.  :(
Alan (EtchedPixels) is working on some easy-build Gresley suburbans using a mix of 3D printing, Dapol bogies and etched sides. Apparently you can put one together in about 30 minutes. Have a look here and PM him if interested as I am sure he will be happy to know that people are interested.

I'm very pleased to hear about the Merchant Navy, means I don't have to buy a Dapol one. I don't like to be rude but given the choice I would always pick Farish over Dapol.

Dapol aren't doing the Merchant Navy class. They are doing the light pacific BoB/WC class and have been muted to be doing the Mauncell coaches so it should all dovetail nicely in with Farish doing the Merchant Navy and Bulleid coaches.

Despite Poole Farish dressing up one model and calling it a MN and WC/BoB that was wrong - they are different locos;

I do realise they are different but close enough for me to chose a Farish MN over Dapol BoB/WC. I see Farish are doing the original 'streamlined' MN and hopefully once they have the chassis they will do a Rebuilt MN too.

Would they be using the prototype Deltic chassis for the class 55 or would they have to do a completely new one? I don't know a lot about diesels but I do like Deltics.

Bartercode

The wheelbase and bogie design for the production Deltics were slightly different to the prototype Deltic.

BernardTPM

The production Deltic bogies were basically the same as the Cl.37 when new, but sustained high-speed running caused fractures in the fabricated frames, so they were replaced with cast ones. This cast version was used under Cl.50s (which were also 100mph machines) and some 37s too.

Well i want a class 70 about 3 of the 37s and the 57 whether i'll have any is a totaly different matter but i can dream.

I was working in Sheffield today, and on the way home I somehow ended up in Rails of Sheffield!!

It was with great pleasure that I met fellow forum member Ollie by chance!!

Ollie gladly showed me the latest copy of the catalogue and we must have talked about it's contents for nearly 45 mins!!

We agreed that farish had definitely missed the boat on doing some new liveries for their good 47 range especially now the 47's are celebrating 50 years this year.

We both were pleased with the announcements and it was good to see the catalogue in the flesh. This should be available in the next week or so.

Really good to meet you Ollie,

Funnily enough I left the shop with a new class 37 in coal sector and £72 lighter (good salesman is Ollie  :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing::smiley-laughing:

Already put my interest in those coaches on that thread - but thanks for posting it!  :)

they'll probably release the new 47s next year, in the same liveries that they are doing in OO now...

just look at the OO catalogues and you can guess what will come next in 'n' gauge.

i suppose they just thought it was better not to flood the diesel market at this stage? or maybe just lack of capacity at the factory in china.

Woohoo - new Class 37 in Railfreight Distribution livery!  8)

Save me trying to put lights in my old one, especially as it's starting to sound a bit dodgy when going in reverse  :-\

Could do with a new Intercity 47 too but hate the full yellow cab ends of the current offering

You may be lucky soon with that 47. They have announced it in 00 gauge in intercity swallow 'fire fly'.
They do often shrink them down and i think we will see reliveried 47's by the end of the year like they did in 2010 with the late announcement mag where they released the B1's

Ooh ta for that, hope so

Sadly I bet we won't see a NSE one as well since toothpaste livery appears to be persona non grata in N gauge?  ::)
