I bought the new catalogue yesterday on a visit to the West Somerset Railway. Interesting to see that a few of the old school steam locos remain (8F, 4F, and Jinty). The GWR loco section is a bit lacking - only 2 Panniers after the heading exclaims 'Our GWR range this year includes locomotives covering all operations from mainline working to shunting'. The body of the London Transport Pannier looks great, but this photo doesn't show the new chassis. The WDs and Standards look stunning and it is nice to see a 2-6-2 tank appearing in green again as these are hard to find.

Very good to see photos of the old liveried 08s. A little odd to see the class 25 still soldiering on!

Hmmm - not so odd IMHO. One of the most numerous, widely scattered of the classes. Every home should have one :smiley-laughing:. I've got 2 and have pre-ordered the next. Usually very smooth, quiet runners even if not technically correct

I have one too - they are good little locos, but I am just a bit surprised that the similar but superior 24 hasn't been converted to a 25.

hi all

i picked up a copy of the new catalogue today
looks like there's lots to look forward too

but a couple of things i have noticed after a quick run through are some of the pictures  ???

no 1  in the picture of the 5MT "camelot" the motion appears damaged to me  :o

no 2  in the picture of the "bitumen" 14T tank the vent is damaged  :o

hope this is only an issue with the catalogue and not a sign of things to come  :-\

anyway im off to have another look through and work out how many years of overtime i'm gonna have to do  :smiley-laughing:

dave

The motion only looks right on one of the photos to me. Take a look at the pickups on the 8f as well. They look upside down.

It's taken me 7 pages, but I just noticed a typo in the thread title - "Catalouge" :P Anyone else noticed that?

Anyway, back to the Catalogue discussion now ;)

Ollie3440

Just found out through work.

'371-165 will now be released as 37407 'Loch Long' in BR Large Logo'

So to all those who were dissapointed that it was going to be 'highland region' there is now no need to be :D

I attempted to edit the title earlier for the correct spelling of catalogue,

However the bad news is that the poor spelling will have to stay otherwise i will have to edit over 47 different replies,

Iam very sorry for the typo, lesson learnt ::)

I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the box  ::), but I have just noticed the differing prices for the various liveries.
Example - Farish WD Austerity early crest is the lowest price, late crest is slightly higher and weathered is higher still. Presumably this is to do with production run length, but on what do Farish base their assumption that the larger run should be early crest ???

i would like to know this too :P

Karhedron

I can understand westhering costing extra as it is in extra step in the production process. No idea why late crest should cost more than early crest though. ???

It may well be that the production run is similar but research has shown that the late crest will be the better seller hence the higher price.

Having said that Hattons appear to have the same price for both.

All you need to do is to edit the first post, and then the last post.  That way, every reply will use the last posts title.

Research! Bah Humbug. :smiley-laughing:
If they carried out research we might get the models we seek (see NGS Journal 2/12 listing what we want and what we get)

If it is of interest to any one there is a pic of the EP of the forthcoming Farish Ivatt 2MT Tender loco on the Farish Website: -
