apart from the initial "access" phase into his head, shall we say, he has to be awake for he whole operation. If anyone has 5 minutes spare tomorrow from about noon could they please send positive vibes towards Leeds General Infirmary. I would appreciate it greatly.

Yikes! I'll do my best

I shall as well

May I please just add @GroupC , as somebody who has spent the last week dealing with medical staff (though I am pleased to say for a far happier reason that your poor friend and their family) and I firmly believe that they are exceptionally skilled and deeply caring people.

Yes others have pointed to some admin issues within the NHS on this and the angry thread (and yes I have experienced this as well), but the core medical skill is superb.

Your friend is right where they need to be

All the best

I think this should be in the sad thread .
Val and me had a phone call at five o’clock the other morning and we were told to get down to Swindon as soon as we could her Dad had just been taken to hospital and was in recuss unit we arrived at about six and things were not looking good the doctors gave him some morphine to help him ,by the evening he had picked up so much that we were told it was OK to go home so we did BUT we had another call to say he had taken a turn for the worse so we jumped in the car and arrived at midnight but unfortunately we were too late he had passed away ,I wish we had stayed down the night before and Val could have been by his side at least Vals Mum was there .
Some members of the Forum are coming to visit me tomorrow and Mum told me NOT TO CANCEL as there is nothing we can do at the moment and I need something to cheer me up ,Val is staying down with her to help sort things out .
I hope that people will understand why I havnt cancelled the day , It will really help me to feel better being with friends and not sitting on my own mopping and feeling sad .

Very sad news, Bob, but I think you're doing the right thing in not cancelling your meet up. At times like this we all need friends.

Commiserations Bob. Yes, spending time with friends and being distracted for a while is probably a good idea.

My best wishes to you Bob, and Val. Take comfort from the company of friends.

Sad news Bob and I can only repeat what others have said. I hope Val and her Mum are okay.

I shall be at the GPs on Wednesday morning,  my answer would be,  I'm fine,  which I am, as long as I keep taking the pills.  The visit is to the Vampire.  The following week,  I shall visit again and my answer will be I'm fine.  I will be prodded, weighed, measured and get the results of the Vampire.

Aaah, the annual 'MoT' - I went down to have the blood-sucking bit done last week, and within 24 hours had a phone call from them saying we didn't like something we saw, can we have another lot?  :worried: ???

So I went down for another blood sucking session, and after the deed was done, the nurse went to update the computer and suddenly said 'wait - they wanted a fasting blood test'. The person on the phone didn't say that, says I. 'OK, these are useless, can you come in again, after fasting this time?'  >:(

Another half-armful of blood extracted on Monday, heard nothing yet so looks like they're happy at the moment. End of next week I see the nurse for the second part of the MoT so I'll get all the gen then, hopefully.
My inspiration - never let a setback get you down...

A couple of years ago I posted about our eldest son (then 12) having an sudden fit (a severe one, culminating in cardio-respiratory arrest). After tests that found nothing, it was put down to an allergy to Hyoscine - it being the first time he'd had Kwells travel sickness pills.

Three years have passed without any recurrence, but yesterday morning, just as I was about to give him a lift to the bus stop on my way to work, he collapsed and fitted again (no arrest this time). So it looks like he actually has epilepsy :(

Now waiting for a referral to a Neurologist.

There's been a number of posts here recently and I am sad and sorry for the trials and tribulations that folks have had and some are going through just now.

I hope that the sharing of those is of some comfort.

The best I can do is wish that the soon upon us Christmas and New Year brings you happier and healthier times.

Dave G
