Bealman

Quote from: Newportnobby on June 05, 2025, 09:47:10 PMAs you may have surmised from my previous blatherings, I have both the samplers mentioned and that Jethro Tull track is one of my favourites with some great guitar
Thanks, Both

That's my favourite JT track of all time. The guitar work is astonishing, with what would have been at the time nothing more than an early wah wah pedal. :beers:
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

That's a shame George @Bealman . They are almost collector's items now. I only had "Nice Enough to Eat" and a friend had "Bumpers" back in the day.

You've sent me scooting around looking for 'em! ;)  ;D

@kusojiji , yes quite a difference. Mott the Hoople were on the verge of breaking up when David Bowie offered them "All the Young Dudes". Mick Ralphs (IIRC) the guitarist left Mott the Hoople shortly after the hit and formed Bad Company - with ex members of Free (Rodgers/Kirke) and King Crimson (Boz Burrel) - much better!

Mott the Hoople went through quite a few musical styles and changes of direction.
With my rather "mellow" musical tastes it'll come as no surprise that my favourite album is Wldlife which took them, in part, to a slightly folky/gentle feel.
Here's my favourite track :
And my claim to fame. I stood next to Ian Hunter in the urinals at Devizes Corn Exchange!
My mate, known as Funk, had one of Buffin's drumsticks which he caught as the drummer bounced them off his drums into the audience. It seemed important at the time aged 16 or 17  :D
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Wow, four songs, four different sounds. This one is cool!

Uh, you guys didn't shakes hands there, did ya? haha

Ian Hunter sounds like David Bowie on that Martin @port perran , which I guess is why DB liked MtH!

I've never thought of that before but now you mention it........
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Ian Hunter has had a few dabbles at solo work with very limited success.
This is one of his better attempts :

And with my rather 'raucous' taste.................I really liked that track. Nice one.
I don't have 'You can all join in' but do have Islands 'NETE', 'Bumpers' and 'El Pea' along with CBS (Fill your head with rock), Polydor (Bombers), Harvest (Picnic) double albums and a single album 'Age of Atlantic'samplers. I used to have the Vertigo label 'Suck it and see' but that vanished many years ago :(

Do you know Asia eluded me, considering the pedigree of the original line up they were by and large pretty much AOR and critically panned but somehow managed I think to appeal to a new audience and sold bucket loads of records!

Here we are with one of the best bands around today, Solstice with "Frippa" from their new album "Clann"...

Definitely up there with the best Tim.
As you know I'm booked in to see them in the Autumn. Looking forward to it.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.
