Understanding that the UK is rather warm these days, I guess they may want to be getting the stock shifted before it all melts....

107 degrees today!

It's been 100-107 for weeks and our fire truck's AC has been broken since June 26!! :veryangry: see

Post: need I say more?
After my last few parcels arriving from the UK in a matter of days, the current one has so far been stuck at Heathrow waiting a flight for a week, and now stuck in Melbourne awaiting clearance for 4 days.
Of course it could be because the postal service don't want me to have my first Dapol class 66.
 ;)  ;)

At least you have the excuse that it has come halfway round the world. I recently made an eBay purchase that took 11 days to travel the 60-odd miles from Reading. But then, it did come via Evri, so I suppose I was lucky to get it in one piece, or at all.

Cheers,

Chris

Humbrol paint. New tin, tight lid, bought 2 weeks ago, much, much stirring. Ok, it is a matt paint, but it's 27C today.

Oh dear! Though I think vigorous stirring might probably fix it.

well, after putting that post on yesterday morning, I checked again at lunchtime to see the delivery was STILL STUCK IN CUSTOMS.

Only for it to be delivered at 2pm. What gives.

So last night I got to check out my first Dapol 66 from the new run.

From my thread about tracking parcels abroad...........

Quote from: Newportnobby on August 27, 2026, 09:15:11 AMI guess 12 days transit is not bad. It's just the infuriating inability to get tracking details that's the problem.

Hello fellow Humbrol enamel users.

After I had the gluggy 154 Matt Yellow (5 posts up) I worked on it an added lots of thinner. Was still a liitle lumpy, but it would be ok to brush.

I sent a query to Humbrol (Hornby Hobbies) about formulation changes etc and, after supplying them the trace code (batch barcode), I got a same day response from the Hornby Technical Support and QC Team Leader. The useful bit is " The batch of the tinlet you have it the first one made after a batch of skimming agent was made unavailable via legislation, we have had some reports that certain tinlets from this batch have exhibited similar behaviour to yours." and suggests I return it for a replacement.

Anyway, many kudos from me to Hornby Hobbies for even bothering to answer me and also for offering an explanation.

I hope Humbrol enamels continue to be made and be available in Oz. I find them usually available, and good for brush, spray and wash use. I'm not so fussed on the Tamiya or the acrylic alternatives - at least for brushing.

Hello folks

I've not been posting on the forum for the last 4 months or so. I'm still around, but my wife, Judy, died of ovarian cancer on 7 August. She had been undergoing chemo for the last year, but about 4 months ago the oncologists announced that it wasn't working so all treatment was stopped. That is when the reality of it all really hit hard. My world suddenly turned upside down. Since then I haven't even been reading the forum posts, let alone contribute any posts of my own.

My mojo is gradually returning so you can all dread the reappearance of me on the forum which will be soon.

Best wishes to all,
Webbo
