I do understand the complainant's point of view to a certain extent. Our experience is that bird feeders tend to provide an easy meal for other beasts as well. In our case it was squirrels, and I didn't see why I should pay out good money to ensure the survival of the grey pests. Also, the local cats (including ours) regarded any unwary birds as small KFCs, so we gave up on the idea. So the sparrows and blue tits have colonised the eaves of our house and our compost bin has been a nice warm restaurant for rats for many a long year. So long as they don't come into the house I don't mind. The sheep was bad enough...
