The first APP album I heard/owned was "Pyramid" and consequently bought more. But by the time of "Eye in the Sky" his output had become too samey for me and that was that! The APP was very successful in North America and South America and Europe, more so than here.

Love it when they start going down the toms. Drumlines are awesome.

I saw King Crimson three times in the very early 70s and always thought of them as being innovative and pushing the boundaries.
To me In the Court of the Crimson King was their best album.

I rather liked the later album from former members Ian McDonald and Michael Giles with the concept track birdman, the whole of side 2, being the highlight.
Unfortunately it's not on you tube these days so no link but if you can find it have a listen.

Now the Moodies were seen as quite cool at my school. Probably a South v North thing.

I liked BJH , King Crimson and The Strawbs too although, for some reason, I never saw BJH.

Anyway, talking of Kettles of Fish......

Strawbs were a great band live.

Currently listening too Jack-e Mcauley / The Poor Mouth, another band that were great live but are not really well known.

I found The Moody Blues a bit of a something of nothing, impressive album covers but musically of little substance (IMO). Perhaps because I was listening to King Crimson, Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Pink Fairies, Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELP, Caravan and Van der Graf Generator etc. at the time!!
