You don't often hear anything from the Obscured By Clouds album but this just came up on NOW 70s (Sky channel 355) so I just had to put it in this thread:

I love this channel, they're now showing this actual video:

I am afraid that "Obscured by Clouds" (an OST by PF) is not one of my favourite PF releases. Funnily enough, "The Nile Song" (from the album "More", another OST by PF) popped up on Planet Rock last night.

But there is nothing like a bit of "Silver Machine"...

Thanks for posting John @Trainfish .

I have 'Obscured by Clouds' on both vinyl and CD and really like most of the tracks (never seen the film, though)
As for the Hawkwind vid, I may have enjoyed that in my 20s but now I'm a little older I just find it rubbish. Sorry

@Trainfish - I'll just qualify that by saying there's nowt wrong with the music but the film is awful. Just someone swinging a camera around in and out of focus

Moonglum

I did think your response was a bit harsh Mick but would totally agree with the poor quality of the filming and Stacia looked positively overdressed for the occasion!

More vintage footage

The very first LP which I purchased, probably aged 14 or so, was the self titled album by Renaissance.which started a lifelong love of progressive music.

To my mind the standout track was Island which is featured here and those who didn't buy the album would know Island from the Bumpers sampler album of course (which has featured on here quite a few times).

I loved Jane Relf's voice but doesn't Keith look serious.
From memory we have Louis Cennamo on keyboards and Jim McCarthy on bass.

Another pretty good bit of footage for 1969

Just wonderful. One of my favourite Renaissance tracks, and a great live performance. Nice find.

Yes agreed Mick, I remember hearing the track on "Bumpers"* and it certainly struck a chord, along with "The Sea" by Fotheringay, "Hazey Jane" by Nick Drake and "Thunderbuck Ram" by Mott the Hoople. Those Island samplers were really great and albums in their own right.

Jane Relf's work with the band Illusion is good as well!

*The Australian release had a significantly different track listing.

Cut my teeth on compilations like Bumpers (a breath of fresh air) and the CBS samplers like The Rock Machine Turns You On, etc.
A great introduction before starting my own vinyl collection!
