Sorry to hear this mick and what you experienced a while ago. Still the customer service experience was below the standard expected. The number should be on your club card / I can add it plus quote the long set of numbers. Hope you have a better experience next time !

two letters received in the post today.

one to advise me that my RAF pension will increase from £204.90 to £206.70 every four weeks.

shall I book the world cruise now ?

the second to advise me that my water bill will increase from £12 to £27 per month.

guess I'd better cancel the world cruise then.

My water rates for my little bungalow are £48.93 per month. I do not have a water meter

Mick, is that for water and sewage combined, or do you have separate bills

It's for everything to do with water, Alan. Dear old United Utilities. You know, the ones who regularly contaminate Lake Windermere ::)

Why on earth do you not have a water meter? Our water rates were something like £60 a month a few years ago, around 2010 I would guess, so we decided to 'try' a water meter as you could go back to the rated method up to a year later. I don't remember how much we saved at the time but our bill is now £36 per month for a 3-bed semi with 2 adults (yeah I know, that's questionable) and 4 cats.

My Norton antivirus is up for renewal in June and after a fair bit of research I had decided to ditch it as Microsoft defender has come on leaps and bounds and should be sufficient for the type of use my laptop gets.

Why post in the angry thread you may ask? Yesterday Norton took £89.99 from my account as an auto renewal. First up I am very confident I had auto renew turned off but more importantly I have had no email about renewal and why take it over 6 weeks before it is due?

After negotiating their chatbot I finally managed to have an online chat with India.

Apparently they take it early to ensure I don't miss out on their protection if there is a problem with renewal. Yeah right!

After asking for a refund (which will take up to 10 days apparently, they must use carrier pigeons) they could suddenly give me a 20% discount on my renewal which is one of my pet hates. So you thought you'd try to sting me for a higher premium when a lower one was available. No thanks.

Anyhow, a refund is on its way so that's the end of this sorry story or is it?

Nope, just received an email from them offering me the same cover for just £29.99 now. What a bunch of crooks!

I used to pride myself as being a progressive thinking young rocker. Now I'm just a cranky old git.

Latest thing to get my ire: the stupid shape of brake and tail lights on modern cars. Bloody statistical summation signs, sine waves and all sorts of weird shapes. This old git finds them totally confusing in the dark. Driving back from Sydney the other night I'm seeing all these weird red things in the dark ahead of me and wondering what the hell I'm coming up on.

Just plain round or rectangular lights will suffice, thank you. >:(

What I find worse than that is the fact that many car markers seem to go to great lengths to make the indicators/turn signals on the front of their cars almost impossible to see. As you say the variety of shapes, sizes and locations is 'pretty' but it's not exactly helping you see another drivers intentions.

Of course, you've also got the fact that many people don't even bother using indicators and if they do I was taught not to trust them especially when giving way or joining so actually this is pretty much a no-win situation.  :D
