That's odd, I would have thought I was receiving from the same transmitter as you (Winter Hill) and my EPG says;
...

Climbed Winter Hill once, as a kid, from the Westhoughton side to the Bolton side and back again. On the way back a storm closed in so we headed to the transmitter buildings, which are an official shelter. Absolutely massive inside, with a great wood panelled boardroom with a lovely portrait of HMtQ. Turns out it doubles as the seat of local government in the apocalypse.
:beers:

Not having a TV I'm no longer bored by endless drivel which for me included sport; I consider TV coverage has ruined most sports which are now just media events, no longer games.

What's this Tour de France thingy?  ??? :-X).
A pale foreign imitation of the "Tour de Yorkshire"....
;)  :P

Could Collin Morikawa have made a better acceptance speech at Royal St. Georges? His appreciation of the winner of the Silver Medal as low amateur, his appreciation for his family, his birthday wishes to his caddie which got the crowd spontaneously singing "Happy Birthday To You", his thanks to the tournament, it was all quite wonderfui.

Compare and contrast to the sulky, surly, entitled "I hate Golf", "My driver sucks", I hate this course", "I fired my caddie" misery which is Bryson deChambeau and I'd like to invite Mr. Surly to find another job if this one makes him so miserable and remove him from our eyesight. If you hate golf, hate your equipment, hate your caddie, hate your courses and, by extention, hate your life, maybe it's time to get some therapy help and find something you enjoy.

It was also quite lovely to watch a tournament without having to listen to the incessant "Get In The Hole", "Yo Da Man", "Mashed Potato", "Baba Booey" and sundry other noise pollutants.

After the gross embarrasment of the England football supporters last weekend, it was rather nice to be able to put my head over the parapet of criticism and say that the English sometimes do know how to eat, drink (early) and be merry on a hot summer Sunday and not disgrace us all.

Well done, Collin, the Open and the fans.

No commiserations to DeChambeau, and I hope he is one (minor) major and done.

Just sayin'! :)

What a weird comment. If you don't enjoy sports, nor TV, maybe you shouldn't waste your time posting on a TV sports thread that you don't like sports nor TV? Not a lot to be gained from that.

Soooo....the 34 stage victory tie between Merckx and Cav wasn't beaten this year because another Belgian won the sprint over the cobbles in Paris. :(
Great interview between Cav and BBCs Sally Nugent ( :heart2: :heart2: :heart2:) this morning.

Excellent performance by England in the 2nd T20 at Headingley. I think I saw Mike @Nbodger on the TV but the cameras cut away while the stewards chased him down. Naughty man ;)

IMHO Lewis Hamilton ('m certainly no fan) was unjustly penalised 10 seconds as it appeared to me Max turned across him to an extent. As for Christian Horner stating "everyone knows you don't put a wheel in front at Copse Corner" I find that a bit crass coming from an ex racer himself. They are there to race not pussyfoot around.

I would have said six of one half a dozen of the other - Lewis ran a little wider than might have been expected and Max turned in too much.

Still, at least it sounds as if Max is OK, just shaken up and a few bruises - goes to show how much crash protection is in the cars nowadays and how effective it is.

You possibly did, I have been told by my eldest son who watched it on TV, that I was on the TV. All I can say is I had a Yorkshire cap and a England shirt on. Oh and Livingstone's six over the Emerald Stand landed on the roof above our heads.

Really great game, good to have some normality, looking forward to going to the India test.

Ah, right. I took it from the commentary you had nothing at all on :D

There was a time when I enjoyed TV and sport thereon, that was when BBC was the only channel and there was no advertising; when TV went commercial many sports suffered, games were tailored to fit the attention span of couch potatoes and to make way for the adverts, I'm surprised they haven't enforced frequent pit stops in motor racing to allow more adverts.

Heck you must be as old as me, (if not older).   ;)

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.

I just use my PVR in "chase play" - set it to record and start watching a suitable time period later, pressing a couple of buttons to skip the adverts when they appear. Got caught out by the red flag period extending the time of the F1 yesterday though, I'd fully caught up and couldn't skip the last couple of ad breaks - but it usually works.

My complaint is not so much about Sport on TV, but about Sport on Radio 5.

I love Football and the last few weeks with the Euros on has been great to me, I also love Cricket and will listen to any of the England games on the Radio when I can, (I will NOT subscribe to Sky for Sport, but that's another story)

Anyway, why do we have to suffer wall to wall coverage of the likes of Wimbledon and the Golf on the normal Radio 5 Channel when they have a perfectly acceptable Radio 5 Live Sports Extra channel where the cricket gets banished to. No-one is allowed to listen to a Test Match on Radio 5 all day, so why do we have to suffer Golf & Tennis all day. The Football is pretty much only on the radio for the game length, plus a bit either side for inane prattling and dissecting.

I like listening to R5L for it's news & current affairs programs and it's occasional Sports programs, I don't mind the odd hour or 2 of Tennis/Golf/Any other sport discussion and they should be allowed this time it is of interest to those who follow the Sport, but if the sport takes all day to play out, then stick it on R5L Sports Extra or create a pop up DAB channel for it, not tie up the main R5L channel.  >:( >:( >:(

Just my rant, back to normality and cracking on with my BOC Tankers.

Regards

Neal.

We had to do a cross country run up there, once a year, starting from school, usually when it was snowing.

Are you from Westhoughton then?
