Not everyone likes Tennis,Football or Horse racing so why do the B B C and  other channels stop all the regular programes and just have them on sometimes the same thing on two channels at once .
I love F1 and motor racing and I am lucky my son pays for Sky Tv and they have a dedicated F1 channel so I can record and watch whenever I want .
Channel Four dont cancel all their programes for F1 but only show the Highlights of Qualifying and the race . That is better for those DONT like F1 and those that do like it get the best of the race .

The reason C4 show highlights is that they don't have the rights to the live races - other than the British GP - when they did have the rights they showed it live and in place of whatever would normally be on at that time. I tend to only watch the highlights if I see it was an interesting race (from checking live text commentary).

I don't follow football league other than checking a couple of teams for sentimental reasons, but I do like my Euro and World Cup fix every couple of years. I will dip in and out of the Wimbledon Tennis - if you go on BBC iPlayer you can pretty much watch any one of the 18 courts now on their on demand channels.

Cricket Tests and Rugby are my main pleasures but have to watch them without resorting to Sky as they won't be getting my money...  ;)

Each to their own and I can imagine it is frustrating... but think back to when there were ONLY three channels and they did the same!!!!!!

What brassed me off yesterday was I checked the TV guide at 16.15hrs to see if Holby was on Beeb1 and set the recorder for it. The Beeb, in their wisdom, then switched it to BBC2 at short notice so my recording is useless.
I'm just hoping for a crash free day at the Tour today :worried:

Just saw some cyclist end up with a broken collar bone on our news.

So what did you end up recording?  :hmmm:
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

The hard drive just sulked and recorded nothing at all

Fortunately I have a hobby so I don't have to rely on the whims of the telly people to keep me amused, which is just as well because Repair Shop has been the only thing I 've wanted to watch for a while now.

down her in't south, Holby is on tonight !

not sure if there should have been Holby on last night [monday] or if the 'presenters' got it wrong.

might account for the box not doing anything ?

Holby usually on Tues but BBC1 has 2 footie games and BBC2 has  :censored: Wimbledon.
I think it's repeated late Sunday evenings so will catch it then.

In the meantime, I'll not spoil things for any TdF fans but ensure you catch the highlights of today's stage.
Hugely emotional!!!

There is an advantage in having about a billion channels and subscription services here in the US in that the sports scheduling is kept pretty separate from regular programming for the most part, especially with the main broadcast networks. Some overruns do happen, most often with the final day of a big golf tournament when there's a weather delay or it goes to a playoff and is being carried on CBS or NBC.

Currently, NBC Sports is carrying the TdF live every day (it starts at 3:00am Pacific so little chance of stepping on any regular programming of value on my coast) and then immediately repeats. The Euros are on ESPN, ESPN2 and the biggest game of the day is carried on ABC, but again the timing means that middle-of-day network programming takes the hit, and it'll all be soaps anyway that can easily be pushed to the next day.

I think ESPN has Wimbledon also, but I don't watch the tennis. Again, ESPN have many stripes on the satellite, so stuff can be moved around between ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Whatever if there are conflicts.

I used to watch Moto gp and F1 but I have no intention of paying for over priced coverage so just watch Highlites, to be honest I have got fed up with F1 anyway. Football I tend to watch the World cup and the Euros, yesterdays two matches were brilliant with 14 goals for the two matches and of course today England beat the old enemy Germany 2-0. The first time in a knockout competition since 1966. The wife even watch England play so I can watch that in the front room, I felt sorry for her though BBC cocked up again messing the viewers by changing channels for Eastenders.  The wifes watches eastenders like a religion, they do not seem to care about their viewers, time it was privatised.

I can not understand why the BBC have to muck about with the schedules so much. I would guess that 99.9% of people who receive the BBC1 signal will also receive BBC2. So, if there is something 'special' showing on BBC1 or something over runs, the BBC1 schedule is shifted to BBC2 and the BBC2 schedule is scrapped or postponed. Why do they not leave BBC1 as scheduled and just put the 'special' or over run on to BBC2?  ???

Fardap ,
I am old enough to remember only having one channel on our first black and white Tv  a ten inch screen in a cabinet the size of a fridge ,I was only 5 at the time and dont rememer what sports were on but I do remember when Mum said right its time for bed the childrens programe has ended and she would turn the Tv off  but me and my sister used to say no its not ended yet because there is still a little white dot in the middle of the screen .
It then cost Mum and Dad  7 shillings and 6d to have something fitted to the Tv when the commercial channel came on air so we had a choice of two channels .

Dannyboy I fully agree with you,
my wife is a Holby fan like Newport Nobby and so she wasnt happy because of all the changes I still think with all the licence fee we pay that the B B C should have at least one channel dedicated to sports , they could record Tennis and football or cricket or whatever sports are on at the same time and put them on later so all sports fans can watch their sport without forcing other non sports fans to turn their TVs off ,

Well Holby is ending soon .. permanently...
I just wish they get rid of those overpaid prima donnas on TV.. The ones that kick a round thing and the ones that hit a round thing. It wouldn't be so bad it there weren't an hours pre programme and an hour post programme discussing rubbish..
