In fact the only one I have managed to finish recently was the Brighton & Rottingdean electric thing and that's not really a railway.

It runs on rails, therefore it's a railway! :)

Nice model, btw.

Hello again.
Here is my second kit completed.
This time, it is a railcar from Etched Pixels. Really nice model.
Unfortunately it appears that I am not good at painting N scale rolling stock.  :veryangry:  It is a pity because it is a really nice model.
Here are the pictures.

Have a nice week.

I am betting that the actual model looks ok, its just that photography shows up every glitch. Have one of these in my to do drawer as well.

What did you use for the glazing?

Jerry.  Banned from modelling today (by Mrs H) due to possible sprained thumb so catching up on forum posts.
Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.

I would agree, close-up photography of N gauge models can be very cruel ;)

Take another pic from normal viewing distance, ie, a couple of feet at least, and I bet it'll look just fine

I used Micro Kristal Klear. It comes from the US. I bought it at Model Train Stuff, http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Microscale-MI-9-Micro-Kristal-Klear-p/msi-mi-9.htm.

I'll try to post another picture in a couple of weeks when I come back from holidays.

I agree that the modern cameras show every minor fault .I had the same thing when MSR took photos of my Railcar at Conwy show, by the way could the last picture show over fill from the window material rather than your painting, I like the warning panels and lights will have to paint the lights on mine not sure to do white or silver dots.

Repairs - not everything has to be sent away - you can fix most thing's yourself. Ask and help will be provided.

Waiting for the RTR version? - why not try a kit?

My layout, Bridgebury Gate now has its own website...
www.bridgeburygate.com

and the 3DR shop where you'll also find the NGF MPV, assorted cabs etc...

That class 29 is a brilliant 'What if?'  If BR hadn't ordered quite so many Type 2 diesels, and if the Paxman Ventura engine had been used for anything other than the class 29, they might well have lasted into the 1980s. BR must have been reasonably impressed by the Ventura: about the time the last Class 29s were being cut up, they were working on the prototype HST which had Valenta engines - basically an improved Ventura.

Built my first kit, the Peco 10ft Butterley wagon.

[smg id=10504]

[smg id=10505]

I had been running a POA wagon at the head of my 16t minerals (fitted and unfitted) train for the NEM pocket on the end to have a easi shunt there but it didn't look right. I also wanted to try out Dapol's NEM pocket conversion kit which had been bought for me for Christmas so I thought a £3 wagon would be the place to start. As it happened, one of the 16t MCV minerals I was weathering lost a coupling so buoyed by the success of this conversion, got stuck in and gave that an NEM. So I was left with a redundant Peco wagon, in the wrong colours with an Elsie at one end and an NEM at the other. It's part of the rake still but it's pretty crappy compared to the proper Farish one with decals and all!!

I don't think that looks crappy at all. Looks pretty good to me!

A few fox transfers and it'd look right as rain. An alternative would be to make a rake up of only peco kits, then there's nothing for the eye to compare it with. But as I say, looks good enough to me.

Agreed - that looks like a nicely weathered, well (ab)used truck that has seen better days but has seen some hand repainting! If my trucks came out like that then I would be very happy!

One of the problems I find with making kits is that I am my worst enemy - when I look at a model from a very close up perspective while making it, I can see everywhere that I am not quite happy with. Then, every time I pick it up, I see those bits, and wish I had done it better.  However, I tell myself that it looks great in amongst a long rake of similar models on a layout, and I try not to be so picky!  :-[
