I thought it might be nice to post up photos of where our layouts live? Zoomed out perhaps, showing the surroundings, workbench etc.

Here is mine. My layout lives on the shelf in my study. Above is my stock, below is my test bench and work area.



Would love to see what yours looks like.

My main layout is in one of the loft rooms.  It's a bit of a mess in there.....

Great looking space though - very jealous.

There is a little landing about a metre square, and then another room - not as big as this one though.  I made sure I had the bigger one.   

Hey, you can fit a lot of N gauge in a metre square. 

under my bed . you should see peoples faces when they say , wheres the train i can hear?

My layout sits on top of the side board in the lounge,main 2 problems my 2 cats use the side board as a short cut from a to b.

When not in use my layout leans up against the wall in my living room.  When it was just a bare board it could slide behind the sofa but I'm not sure that would work anymore.

My layout-to-be lives in the spare room, but it's currently covered in aeroplanes, a dolls house for the housing authority, Star Trek vessels and helicopters. Really gotta put some shelves up to move all those.

Mine is hinged on the wall in the dining room, waiting for the lad to move out so i can use the small bedroom.

Mine's packed away at the moment so it looks like a 6'x3'x2' wardrobe in the dining room, covered with a blanket to keep the dust off

No pics unfortunately as haven't taken any since moving house

mine lives in the conservatory when the weathers better, at the moment its behind the book case away from the cold and damp

When I started with my layout the only space I had available was the area of my woodturning workshop that was my showroom.

If you imagine that the area immediately behind the door and the same width as the the door and the building to the Right allows me approximately 1.5 metres square.

It is far from ideal but beggars cannot be choosers!

Like cjdodd, mine lives in the conservatory (aka mancave)

Mine lives under my son's bed.  With the layout being only 3ft x 2ft it fits nicely!  When in use it moves to the dining room table.

Any future layouts can't be any bigger than 3ft x 6ft...i.e no bigger than the bed.

That said...there is a long term plan to clear out the cellar which is around 35ft x 18ft...just imagine how much N Gauge you could fit in there!
