I was actually quite surprised how easily it went together actually, however i found the Instructions a little hard to follow - as there didn't seem to be much logic to how the the instructions flowed, it seemed to go left to right, up to down, back to the right, then a picture with some arrows and text that told you some of the things you had to do, and then another random bit of text that should have applied to the same picture but was a little disjointed.

This is not to say Metcalfe product isn't good, far from it. It's just I found the instructions a little hard to follow.

On the other hand, Scalescenes are a bit more fiddly, but have much clearer instructions. Food for thought...

Thanks for the comments. It was a great way to spend a cold weekend!

Strange, I've built the main station building, platforms, and terraced houses and each time found the instructions pretty straightforward. Suppose each person perceives things differently  :)

Looks good that pub though, shame it's just a bit too 'oldy worldy' for my layout  ;)

Not hard to modernise though - change the signs a bit, put a cash machine in the wall add a kebab shop next door, add a drunk woman on the floor in the side alley and a couple of blokes taking a pee and you are half way there...

That's a very good build and would certainly get a place on my layout, well done  and as JH says no layout should be without a good pub! Mine will have at least 3!  :beers: Whoops 4 I forgot the one in the village by the castle

...........not doing much except making some ladders for my steel caboose.

The body needs matt varnished and then the windows glazed before it get stuck to the chassis. Then the end ladders and rails will be added.

Hi Alex,

Do you hire workers from "The Lilliput Ladder Co."?
You must have rock steady hands to make those  :o

A very subserviant John.

Alex

Hi John,

I'm not that clever. ;D They're simply brass etched ladders that have had the top 6 rungs cut off and then folded over.

I'll be glad when this caboose is finished. It's starting to drag out longer than I wanted it to.

i picked up a 25 at the exhibition at wigan on saturday for a reasonable price BR 2tone green un-weathered
it is a reasonable runner quiet, smooth but seemed a bit slow so tonight i had a really good look at it and it looks as if
someone has been running it on a trackbed of cotton wool  :o  there is fluff everywhere

SWMBO thinks I am a carpet monster    it was very cold the other day so I decided to paint a model in the house, I knocked a bottle of Tamiya red enamel paint over and it all landed on the newly laid carpet, now the house stinks of turpentine and we have nasty red paint smears on the carpet
Keep on Smiling
