I think the fairest way is for me to delete the lot and lock the thread, problem solved and no more boring football on here.   ::)   ;)

If you don't like football, then don't read this topic :D

Thought this place would be a haven away from the dreaded football, rugby, cricket etc, I get it rammed down my throat on TV, the radio, the papers, nearly every bar I go into and now it is filling up this forum.  :'(

I think it should be banned the same as religion and politics, let's stick to what this forum is all about, railways and N gauge modelling, if you want to chat about football then go on one of the many sport forums out there but leave us in peace on here.   :(

Rant over.

Surely this is why it's in the 'General Discussion' section though along with a cycling thread, an AGA thread, a few car threads etc etc. I'm not interested in any of those but I don't mind them being there.

If there was a thread about sewing would that be a thread thread?   :D

BTW why are political and religious topics banned on this forum ?

These are part of life like Aga cookers, old Stags and Scottish football.
I can't see them causing more of a punch up than some topics which have
been closed, and they were about toy trains.

I can fully understand the non-interest in football by a lot of members and I wouldn't want football spilling over to the main board, however, I'm with Trainfish and Agrippa on this one - it's in the General Discussion forum and there's no need to read it if it doesn't interest said member.

I haven't an interest in Agas and cars, but I have no objection to it. I think as long as these threads stay in the general section, I think they are fine. Personally I don't want to chat about footie with a bunch of lager louts, but I quite enjoy the banter we have on here, especially when someone puts a train twist on it, like Mike did a few posts up.

That said, I'm still quite new around here so I'll defer to the more senior members amongst us.

Whoa! :stop:
Are you suggesting we remove the entire General Discussion board ??? :o
You know this thread is about the World Cup footie so don't read it. If you want to read about railways and N gauge modelling there's much for you, but some of us like to take a break now and then and discuss things outside that particular box.
Whatever next?  ::)

Rant over :P

Today is the 1st day Ive looked at this thread. Whilst the W cup was in progress I purposely stayed clear and tried not to provoke any agro.
My only comments today have been made light heartedly but show just how easy it is to upset some people.
This is after all the General Discussion board and within sensible limits most things are welcomed.

People shouldn't get upset about World Cup banter, if they do they should get a life.
There are more important things to get riled up about. To me F1 is pretty boring, but
if it's a topic in the general section I'm not bothered. So long as no one mentions
darts! If they were playing the World Cup final of darts , or whatever it's called
I'd sooner stick my head in a gas oven than watch it!

Here endeth the lesson... sorry , no religion here!

Please be careful doing this. If the gas is turned on and there's a naked flame nearby you could burn yourself. Not recommended!

We've got an electric oven for this reason  :worried:

I could always put my napper in an Aga. But I don't have the space in the kitchen for
one, never mind the cash!

In a way football got me interested in trains.

Loved football as a kid (still do) and was interested in where the countries were.

Then got interested in the clubs, for example.. where Borussia Moenchengladbach was? My dad who had travelled a lot answered my questions and later, he, as a travel writer took me with him on some of his travels where I fell in love with European Railways.

Great memories!

Am a Pompey fan and know there's a few Pompey related layouts on here.

Possibly a stadium built in N gauge when we are back in the premiership. You've got 3 years.

Note to Pengi...NO JOKES. I'm not a moderator but I'll go back at you!! :D

Cheers weave  :beers:
