Quote from: Moonglum on Yesterday at 07:18:14 PMSo, John @Train Waiting , is this an admission? I am afraid Country music is a bit lost on me, although Plant/Krauss and Knopfler/Harris feature in my collection. Was it you that quoted Dolly Parton saying "that it costs a lot of money to look this cheap"?

Tim
John @Train Waiting are we going to see more musical postingtons from you?
Like Tim @Moonglum Country doesn't do it for me I'm afraid but do continue to join in on this thread.
The more the merrier.

Yes, indeed, Tim, one of my favourite quotes: - "It costs a fortune to make me look this cheap."

When a journalist asked how long it took to do her hair before a performance, Dolly replied, "No idea, I'm never in the same room as it." Perfik! Almost in the Yogi Berra* class.

Incidentally, said Ms Parton is a philanthropic powerhouse as well as a musical powerhouse. A truly wonderful person.

* My favourite, I think, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." Or, maybe, "You can observe a lot by looking."

By the way - TT is sometimes called the Texas Tornado. I enjoy country music - always have. As a student, my allocated time on the record player was Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell and (not Country) Frank Sinatra ... and Blondie! I was laughed at.

Was I bovvered? No.

With all good wishes

John

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1930s to the 1950s.

Moonglum

Yes, she (Dolly) certainly is a card! Anyway so now we know.

Tim

PS my apologies for not getting her quote correct.

This was a good mashup. Too bad this guy only did two videos, 18 years ago.

I've got that Mark Knopfler-Harris album. One of my favourites!

Being a Frank Sinatra fan would this appeal to John @Train Waiting ?

I think Richard Hawley is in some ways a modernised version of the great man.

Filmed in my former County of Cornwall too.

Great photography, wish I could say the same about the music
