Well I have just traded my car for a newer one,the old one cost me a few quid last mot, I was not having a repeat. They kept me waiting a while for paper work but it was worth it. The car is a 75 plate so i thought it was about 8/9 months old, checked the paperwork and it was first registered November last year, but only had physical checks done 18th March this year, so its six months old and only 18 miles on the clock, what a good do. You got to laugh  the wife ie swmbo was away last week and when she came back on Friday and found cans of Thatchers Cider in the fridge and then found out I had bought a car too. Eldist son said to her you have only been away a week and dads started drinking and bought car.....lol

PS amended this post, so the car was probably parked on a car park somewhere or maybe a field for a few months...lol

Hi

A little puzzled as a car registered in March this year should be 26. 75 would relate to 1/09/2025 to 28/02/2026

Cheers

Hi Paul  you are of course correct, well last nightI checked the car on the DVLA website, it turns out the car was first registered in November 2025 hence the 75 plate, but then it was not given the pre delivery checks till 18th March 2026. I collected the car yesterday with 18 miles on the clock so I am happy, it drives ok no faults found so far. You have to watch out for digital faults nowadays, so nothing new there, same with our model railways digital.

Back when I flogged new cars there would always be a few new cars floating around that had been registered and were then sold as used. It was to hit targets.
If the dealership was a few cars short of their monthly/quarterly target we'd register the shortfall from stock then sold as used. The pre delivery inspection would only be done when the car was sold.

Papyrus

I was rummaging in a jacket pocket for a pencil yesterday when my fingers felt a couple of strange shapes. Wossis?, I thought...

A couple of brake vans bought for next to nothing at a toy fair a few months ago that I had stuffed in a pocket and promptly forgotten about! Not only that, but it wasn't till I looked at the picture I realised one was LMS and the other, excitingly, was BR.

As I always say, you can never have too many brake vans. Do you always say that? Oh, good.

Cheers,

Chris

You are at least well on the way towards being able to run a "brake van special" on your layout!

The least place to leave the brake vans.  At least the jacket didn't end up in the dry cleaners or in a cupboard

Nice find though

Seeing as I have 26 of various types, I could well be guilty of that

Hi All,

Don't really have anyone else to share this with, so I hope you all forgive me from sharing it here as its pretty far removed from anything railway related.

I'm not sure if any of you remember but my girl is a Dancer, has been since she was 3.  She's been at various Ballet schools throughout her teenage years, with some very difficult challenges but fought her way through them (we are more a Billy Elliot family than a Darcy Bustle one ) and three years ago was finally accepted to Canada's National Ballet School (like the UKs Royal Ballet School for those in the know).  2 years ago, she was diagnosed with having a small bone spur in her ankle, it means nothing to you and I, but is a terrible thing for a Dancer who is en pointe.  Long story short, operation, removal, very long recovery (dancing and working all the while, but not much en pointe and she hasn't been allowed to perform on stage until last night.  So after 2 years my beautiful daughter danced a beautiful duet as part of her program's end of year show.  She also debuted her very first professional piece of choreography, and she is dancing for the next two nights of performances as well.

I am just overwhelmed with it and needed to share so thank you all for reading this!  She is continuing her Ballet training at the school next year so while losing her to distant schools since she was 15 has been heartbreaking the feeling of seeing her on stage again after so much work, effort, physio and recovery is just.. well words fail me

Thanks guys

Graham
