Probably many. However, it's non negotiable for me at present.

Note the line that says "We've made some changes to your excesses"  They may be charging you all that money for you to self-insure.  Sorry, I should have spit out my cynic pill this morning...

Fair point.

However, I have accounts with the three main comparison sites, plus some select insurers. Each renewal I run through all of them.

Over the years I have discovered that having a "bigger excess to reduce your premium" is not the promise it sounds.
If I raise my voluntary excess to £500 it knocks, for example, £7 off my annual premium.

I only ever have zero voluntary excess.

I shall be doing the rounds of the sites shortly, I'll update progress in due course.

Car insurance is due at the end of the month. Curses.

Got an email from my current supplier, "Renewal Invite". I thought, "here we go"...

Have I somehow stumbled into an alternative universe?

Same here. My car insurance has gone down for the second year running, also by £40. Wish it applied to pet insurance too..

This should perhaps be in the angry thread  :D

Here in the good old US of A, our insurance for 2 drivers and 3 cars (1 year old Audi S5, 10 year old Audi Q5, and a 27 year old pick up is $2000 FOR 6 MONTHS and we haven't had an accident of speeding ticket in more than 5 years.

That's £1000 per vehicle per year.  :(

And the 25 year old roof on our house is due to be replaced.
