I get it. Maybe that kind will cycle around soon.  :beers:

I like it instrumentally but not so much the growl vocals.

I like some Tool. Aenima is one of my favorite songs ever, especially when the lyrics are considered.

I'm a huge fan of:

European Power Metal (Blind Guardian, Hammerfall)
Thrash (Classic Metallica, Tourniquet)
American Power Metal (Iced Earth, Jag Panzer)
Trad  Metal (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio)
Death Metal (Bolt Thrower, Early Mortification)
Atmospheric Black Metal (Antestor, Cân Bardd)
Melodic Metal (Tyketto, Ten, House of Lords)
Shred/Speed (Impellitteri)
Hair/"LA" Metal (Stryper, Motley Crue)

Others.

If it's fast and/or heavy and/or melodic... I'm down.

Of course, that includes Vivaldi.  :)  :claphappy:

I feel the need to bring things down a little after all of that heavy stuff.  :D  :D

Here's Indagroove with their version of a classic :

Epic intro to this track but I very much suspect Rush are an acquired taste :hmmm:

Hmmmm. I don't know much about Rush but was quite enjoying that until the vocals kicked in.

As for intros, I've always rather liked this from The Stone Roses :

I know what you mean. Their musicianship is undisputed but the castrato vocals can grate.

Here's another great intro, but the same applies as far as vocals go

Moonglum

I am afraid that Geddy Lee's vocals have always let Rush down for me and I find their material a bit predictable. AC/DC has never ever ever done it for me either. Both get a lot of airplay on Planet Rock and the volume gets turned down when they are played!

Rather liked the Stone Roses though.
