I have the Dukes of September DVD. Ripped it to my hard drive.

Thanks for that - very interesting and new to me.
They appear to be a covers band utilising quite complex arrangements but based in Moscow and touring, largely, in the US.

kusojiji

They do a pretty good job. A lot of songs with heavy brass, which is good for me. The drummer is a beast!

They did My Old School with a guest singer. This guy can jam on his guitar.

That's fabulous @kusojiji and brings us nicely full circle back to Steely Dan.

Moonglum

Agreed, both very good covers but of the two "One Fine Morning" would be my choice. However, I thought this cover is very hot, fab singer...

Sorry but this (I'll call it jazz funk) is not for me.
Now jazz rock e.g. early Chicago is a different matter, even the 'commercial' stuff

OMG @kusojiji , what a find in Leonid and Friends, I can't stop listening. I am not a great fan of cover or tribute bands unless they are really really good and these guys are. "The Band Geeks" are also very good and good enough to have become Jon Anderson's (Yes) backing band!

Here are two contrasting covers by Leonid and Friends, I think the Earth, Wind and Fire cover is better than EW&F...

Perhaps you would like to do a comparison Mick @Newportnobby ...

Pretty damned good, Tim @Moonglum 8½ out of ten and would have been more with better vocals. The guitarist absolutely nailed it note for note whilst still being 'free'

Yep - same goes for the next track. They're a powerful sound, alright

For me, this is one of the finds of the year.
Like @Moonglum, I don't really like tribute bands or bands that merely play covers but these guys are in a different league.
I can see I'll be listening to them regularly from now on.

Mick, @Newportnobby. I was blown away by 25 or 6 to 4 when it was released many moons ago and still like it.
That Leonid version is fabulous.

Just recently I have got into "post modern jukebox" on YouTube and Facebook. Otherwise I mostly like mashups.
