iPod on 'Shuffle' last night and this popped up. 'Sweet Dreams' as you may not have heard it

I have lots of Camel's work but really like the 'Rain Dances' album.
Here's a bit of an earworm....

I bought this album at the same time (1977) as I bought Renaissance's "Novella" release, both great and possibly underrated albums. BTW, this is my favourite track from Rain Dances with Richard Sinclair's distinctive bass sound - good choice Mick.

So, here from Novella is "Midas Man", I think after this release Renaissance only had one good album left in them "A Song for all Seasons"...

I watched on YouTube a recent interview with Annie Haslem which was most interesting. Explaining that she used to casually sing along to tunes when someone said "hey, you have a nice voice!", so eventually after tuition from an opera singer she joined a cabaret band called "The Gentle People". One of the band members showed her an ad in Melody Maker seeking a singer and suggested she went. She auditioned with what turned out to be Renaissance and as they say the rest is history. I have to say that I don't often listen to Renaissance these days but I did see them live four times in the mid 70s, once at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (front row seats as well!).

Never been a fan of Mr Manson, despite my alternative music leanings. Having said that, this is pretty good but it's not a patch on the original.

I was sorry to learn that the legendary bassist Danny Thompson has died, aged 86. Danny worked with a wide range of artists, notably Pentangle, Richard Thompson and the late John Martyn. He was born in Teignmouth. I would have first heard his work on Pentangle's "First Light", the theme to BBC TV's drama "Take Three Girls" which I rather liked. The second time would have been on John Martyn's breath taking "Solid Air" a few years later. RIP Danny...

Yes, very sad Tim.
I had no idea he was born in Teignmouth.

I used to love that "Take three girls" show! Lyrics were a bit different, of course.

Today was Nightwish

Although most famous for their vocals my favourite is probably this piece without any. Mostly because I'm a huge fan of Troy and his pipe playing, right back to his You Slosh days on the UK university circuit.

Nice, it's a shame that neither the bassist or the drummer are in the band anymore.

I have never seen a keyboard pipe thing like that before. I guess a short pipe organ? Cool! Have always liked Nightwish.

The Finns do like their metal (and their coffee!). I first heard Nightwish in a backstreet café on a business trip to Prague and have been hooked since. Favourite track - 'Kinslayer'
