Moonglum

I have the DVD of this concert, I think David Bowie does quite well on this version but fairs better on "Arnold Layne". It would be easier to say that David Gilmour never disappoints with his solos on "Comfortably Numb". Thanks for posting @lugworm . I knew that I had seen your moniker somewhere before, it's from the cover of "Strange Band" by Family, I had that EP which featured "The Weaver's Answer" - is there a connection?

I quite like "Cousin Jack" @EtchedPixels and a good video. First time I have heard Show of Hands.

Having explored "Show of Hands" a bit more, I rather like this by Steve Knightley (one for you Martin @port perran ?)...

Hi Tim
I have been lucky enough to meet the band a few times. I'm still in touch with Harry Ovenall (the original drummer), and, until his recent death, Poli Palmer. Poli and Roger were about to start on a new album, but obviously that's not going to happen now. Charlie Whitney lives on one of the Greek islands and has completely turned his back on music. I thought the Weavers Answer cover would make a good avatar !

Sorry, I wasn't overly keen on the Steve Knightley track @Moonglum.

As for Family, yes I used to quite like them and saw them twice back in the day.

Comfortably Numb is, of course, a classic and, as far as Pink Floyd goes, a standout number.
I remember being absolutely blown away by it the first time I heard it.

'Twas pleasant enough but didn't exactly stir me in any way

Thanks @lugworm , so which member of Family is represented in your avatar, I cannot work out who it is. Roger Chapman may still be active, I have a live CD by him and had "Chappo" on vinyl.

Chappo is still recording occasionally, but hasn't been too well recently. He is 83 now though ! The avatar is John (Will) Weider. He played bass and violin.

Mazzy Star "Into dust". Repetitive but strangely hypnotic
(First heard on the wonderful Hugh Laurie series 'House')

Here she is with Colm O'Ciosiog, from My Bloody Valentine. Together they formed Hope Sanderval and The Warm Inventions in 2000.
