I have the Aphrodites Child double album '666' on vinyl but have to say maybe 90% is just tosh :(

Moonglum

I wondered why Beggar's Opera was mentioned Martin @port perran !

You are right Mick @Newportnobby , it's certainly not for everyone. "666" took a long time to produce and record, internal conflict in the band and the initial refusal of the record label to release it did not help. Some now think it is a classic!

Not quite the word I'd have used, David

The only 3 tracks I regularly play are "The Four Horsemen", "Babylon" and "Aegean Sea"

I think that is the first time David Bowie (RIP) has been posted on the Forum (?) (and a bit different @Snowwolflair ). Over the years I have drifted in and out of his work. A friend bought me his last album "Black Star" on CD, as a thank you for power washing his drive and patio.

This is a work of utter genius. The world is all the poorer for his passing. The title track is spellbinding  throughout all 9mins 59.

Oh, and @Snowwolflair I have always loved that track!

Interesting to see David Bowie mentioned on here.

As @Foxhound says, much of his work is genius and innovative but much of it is not my cup of tea unfortunately.

Like @Moonglum I have, over the years, drifted in and out of Bowie's musical offerings but I have to say more out than in.

@Moonglum, your rates for power washing a drive and patio are very reasonable  :D

Moonglum

@Foxhound , I think "Lazarus" is my favourite track from "Blackstar". "Sue" isn't bad either but overall not everyone's cuppa...

One certainly couldn't accuse Bowie of being a "One trick Pony".

Working in a Blood & Cancer Directorate I am still in awe of what Bowie achieved in his last months of life, given his condition.

If it's a bidding war, a couple of decent pasties (Nothing from the 'G' word) and a couple of pints of Hicks and I'm your man. ;-)

There has been a bit of discussion about Yes recently.
Time and a Word is one of my favourite tracks and is from their second album released in 1971.

This though, from 1997, is probably my favourite version of what is, I think, a classic song :

Great to see all the good stuff about my hero. David Bowie
