Now that I DO like, Tim, and will further investigate Floor Jansen. Thank you. (My only exposure to Nightwish was when Tarja Turunen was their vocalist.)

I have the 45 of 'Hold your head up' and also have the track 'Dance in the smoke' on the CBS sampler 'Fill your head with rock'

Newportnobby

Their 'Black Album' has to be considered a classic, and this is the track I play the most....

followed by a superb track from Evanescence...........

Sorry @Newportnobby . I've never managed to get into Metallica at all. It's simply not my type of music.

Evanescence is interesting but again, I'm afraid it's a  .

And @Moonglum to make it a trio of misses not hits it's a thumbs down also for Floor Jansen .

Sorry chaps none of those are to my taste at all.
I'll get my coat.

Oh well Martin @port perran , win some lose some! I like both of Mick's @Newportnobby choices. More so Evanescence.

I gave Leoni a listen on Spotify last night, she's got something - some tracks appealed more than others. She is supporting Solstice for the first half of their 2025 tour.

"Dance in the Smoke" is very much of it's time. I remember "Fill Your Head With Rock".

Cheers,

Tim

Some rather old Uriah Heep. I don't really share their one time obsession with wizards etc but it may give a clue as to which albums I'm listening to ;)
I saw them once in an upstairs room at The Nags Head, Wollaston and was filled with wonderment the building survived intact!

Uriah Heap... was that the band Bowie's bassist during his Ziggy days played with for most of his life? Trevor Bolder was the name.
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

Yes, he was in the Spiders too.

The backing band were fairly good but I found her voice to be lacking strength.
Sorry, but a 'MISS' from me.
I tend to like my female vocalists to be somewhat 'rough' e.g. Laura Nyro, Maggie Bell and Joan Osborne to name some.
Imagine yourself to be sat at a table in a dimly lit, basement nightclub with the air quite thick with smoke some of it 'fragrant', if you know what I mean ;)

Had a good listen to Eliza Rush on the train home from Bristol.
Thanks for the heads up Tim @Moonglum

It is, as others have said, very pleasant and I like her voice but the music is a bit too much on the middle of the road side of folky for me.

Not at all bad though.
