Quote from: Moonglum on February 11, 2025, 09:56:34 PMAlthough I had four Moody Blues albums on vinyl (bought as a job lot), I think that they were somewhat overrated. I haven't really followed BJH but I like The Enid's version of "Mockingbird"...

Cheers,

I've never heard of The Enid so that's another one to listen to in the train room soon.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

I had to cease listening halfway through as the vocals were just so awful.
Sounded like a bunch of 15 year olds and their dads :unimpressed:

Moonglum

Oh dear Mick @Newportnobby , sorry about that. But I don't think that you far wrong with the kids/dads bit!

Cheers,

Tim

I love the sound of the mellotron in the morning (thank you, Robert Duvall)
The full track develops into a free form heap of rubbish after this but this abridged form is great

Moonglum

King Crimson at their best Mike @Newportnobby ! One of the best exponents of the mellotron - a devil to play I understand and can be both beautiful and menacing.

Cheers,

Tim

I've been listening to The Enid this afternoon whilst undertaking scenic work on the layout.

Tim @Moonglum I don't often say this about music but I'm afraid that is a bit of "a row".
Not for me at all - sorry. Nice try though  :D
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Moonglum

Oh dear again, that's two failures in a row Martin @port perran , I shall head off in another direction for my next post!

Cheers,

Tim

Looking forward to the next one Tim.

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Now I am pretty confident that Martin @port perran will like this. From Solstice's forthcoming album in April, here is Firefly...

Released today, visuals a bit OTT.

Cheers,

Tim

You might like to try this as well, Leoni Jane Kennedy...

I've just listened to 45 minutes or so of Leoni Jane Kennedy.
That's a good find, I particularly liked Bravado.
  Thumbs up from me.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

You are quite correct Tim @Moonglum .
That is an excellent offering from Solstice - looking forward to the new album.
I quite liked the visuals.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Here's a couple of old timers in 2011 with a blast from the past :
Mrs PP and I saw Argent and Blunstone around that time at Falmouth Pavillions and an excellent evening it was too.

Rod Argent was one of my favourite keyboard players back in the day and I remember seeing Argent playing Hold Your Head Up in the 70s.

I think that's Jim Rodford on bass (formerly of Argent).
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Moonglum

Remember Argent well and of course "Hold Your Head Up", Mrs M and I saw them live at Brunel University on 31 January 1975. Martin @port perran where did you find 45m of Leoni?

Now with Mick @Newportnobby in mind, I have always thought of Nightwish as good but a bit samey, having said that I haven't heard a whole lot of their works. However, this is a little different and covered this time by Floor Janson...

Cheers,

Tim
