I've liked Fleetwood Mac for donkeys years starting with their early stuff like 'Green Manalishi' etc
Even the ill fated 'Tusk' had some superb tracks in the vein of the 'Rumours' style

Following a trolley bashing sesh at the supermarket, I chilled out this morning with a super selection of folking music, featuring the obvious Fairport/Fotheringay but with some more obscure stuff like Trees 'Garden of Jane Trelawney' along with some Amazing Blondel

Quote from: Malc on July 22, 2024, 07:40:37 PMThanks for the heads up @Newportnobby , just ordered a copy.

@Malc Have you received it and played it yet, Malc? (Strangely strange, but oddly normal CD box set)

Newportnobby

I present for your delectation the somewhat haunting 'Song to the Siren' by 'This Mortal Coil' which I have on 10" vinyl
(I believe 'This Mortal Coil' were, in fact, the Cocteau Twins amongst others)
The song itself is a Tim Buckley composition

Moonglum

Interesting and from 1983! But not totally up my street I am afraid Mick @Newportnobby .

Something a bit different and also going back a bit.

Someone with  a gently haunting voice who is fine early exponent of white soul music and a touch of jazz thrown in :

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Beautiful, what a voice and what a song. I have to admit she was one of my favourites when I was six years old with her release of "I Only Want to be With You"!

However, Martin @port perran this was the first version of "Spooky" I heard...

Very nice too Tim.
I haven't heard that version of Spooky before but it's not half bad at all.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

There are cover bands and there are cover bands, not heard of these guys until today.

Here is the Lexington Lab Band with the Allman Brothers' "Jessica"...

@Moonglum You must be psychotic, Tim. I was only listening to that this morning!

Outstanding cover.

PS not so sure that I am psychotic!

Newportnobby

A slightly different version of the greatest track in the world - ever
IMHO

Let's face it, the U.S. does not do simple, eh? ;)

Snowwolflair

Some years ago I was in Marlow and stopped for a coffee in a an open air bar/bistro near the bridge.

I had the pleasure of listening to Robert Plant and Jimmy Page at the next table taking turns riffing on a guitar including Stairway to heaven.

Right place right time and something I will always remember.

Moonglum

I have seen that epic version before Mick and great to see Jason Bonham on the drums - superb!

Nice one @Snowwolflair - I was lucky to see Led Zeppelin live at Earls Court in 1975 (£2.50 a ticket in the days when you applied for tickets by post!!).

Cheers,

Tim
