I just keep typing after the "@"  until the desired member name comes up. It does work, though names with spaces in are a nuisance  :)    Alternatively if you're tagging someone in an earlier post on the same thread I just scroll a bit to their post and copy the user name, paste after the "@".

Not what I'm saying, Nick
That works in a 'normal' post but if you forget the tag and go back in to put the tag in via "Quick Edit" no amount of typing after the '@' brings up names. We'll find out if Bealman spots the tag in the edited post above

ntpntpntp

@Newportnobby   ah I see what you mean, but then again Quick Edit doesn't offer the emojis nor the Add Image functionality.  That's why I tend to use "Modify" unless I know it's just to correct a typo. Tagging etc. works fine in the full editor.

I have had that message a few times in the last couple of days Alan and the forum seems very slow at times.

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.

Yeah, Mick, I spotted it, but only because I happened to be looking at this thread. I have had no notification that I'd been tagged by the forum or by email. The last notification I got was a tag by Trainfish on July 8th. So it's not really working, is it?

Thanks, George. I'll just have to remember if I forget a tag to use 'Modify' and not 'Quick Edit'.
Evidently 'Quick Reply' has similar limitations over just 'Reply'

I've had the message as well.  And I have noticed that we often appear to have a large number of 'Guests' on the parts of our FabulousForum where they are allowed.  My guess is these mostly aren't people but are other computers searching for information.  I know almost nothing about the technology but I think they are called 'Robots' and are notorious for slowing websites down.

As we have moved to another server recently, they might be especially interested in us.

Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable (which doesn't narrow the field much, if at all!) will be able to elucidate.

With best wishes

John

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1930s to the 1950s.

Yes, all sorts of things happening here, and having been burnt on the phone in the UK, I'm very wary of replying to anything!

"My Messages" link right at the top of the page in between your profile name and options and "Alerts".

don't know if it is just me, but really slow today.
just over a minute to go from page 20 to page 21, and nearly as long to react to clicking the 'reply' button.

ntpntpntp

Certainly having slow moments, must be the bots being too nosey again  :worried:
