Thanks, as the layout is loosely? based on Swanage I wanted a stone effect and went for Ashlar, problem now if I get that far is sourcing suitable cottages, the Scalescenes country pub is spot on for my requirements. The area behind the station buildings is intended to be a town square loosely again based on Wimborne with a nice open space and although they don't exist in real life a couple of trees with a little market. If we could only go back to the old fashioned licenseing laws I could probably get some of this done, Ho Hum!

Shifting Trees, pulling rocks off the scenery, recovering the layout with ground cover and generally trying to make Nth West USA look like something that resembles Wales, mmm Mission Impossible  ???

Progress, for me anyway and for the convenience of the passengers another small building has appeared,

and on the platform awaiting the booking hall etc, also featured another of my over 30 year old Farish locos which ran straight out of storage "Burton Agnes Hall"

Getting that done was a relief! Right I've earned it so it's off for  :beers:

.................making another couple fo woodchip gondolas. I got another 2 Micro-Trains 40ft freight cars, with sliding doors, while at the Perth show. I'm always looking for these type of cars as they are the exact type for this conversion.

One was a an Olympic Northern,

and the other was a Cascade and Western.

These will be numbers 6 and 7 of my woodchip consist. I can do 2 of these in about 3 hours. Unfortunatly it takes about an hour to decal each one, and I've still got one that's been sitting waiting on decals for about a month now. I've got the decals, just haven't been able to allocate the time to decal it.

My crane has been matt varnished and is in the final touch up stage prior to weathering. The MkII tool car is next for conversion.

Like 'em! Sort of reminds me that I still have a fondness for US outline - too late now, though. Would love to see the full consist when finished! Any chance of a look at a finished car? :beers:

Nice work Alex you must have a terrific lot of rolling stock now

As for what I did last night, I chucked loads of various shades of green ground cover on the layout in an attempt to make my ex US layout look English, next job is to repaint the background to something a little more subtle.

Hi bealman,

My main conversion/scratchbuild thread is here. Some build shots of the woodchip gondolas.

Dave,

I got just over 100 pieces of rolling stock, although the layouts still looks bare in places. It's quite funny, you're converting US to UK and I'm slowly changing my main layout from UK to US.

You are doing well with that much rolling stock Alex

To be honest it didn't take much for me to return to British, I had my heart set on it this time last year but my love of small engines backfired on me, I found the 0-6-0s and others pretty unreliable.

The US models are great but for some reason or other I have trouble modelling anything but British, the best layout I ever built was a OO gauge setup and when I dismantled SWMBO nearly took a fit, must be the English blood in my veins.

Finished the missing link (well not quite chimney pots and permanent attachment to adjacent buildings still to do)

and roadside, needs a touch of attention

in situ awaiting attachment

If you really want to try your patience have a go at fixing that valance.
Right no need to try and guess where i'm off to now Cheers!
