How about something you already have but in a different livery or with a different running number?
Cheers

How about a Union Mills steam engine?  These are heavy, have a real presence and will last forever.  It will survive being handed round your family and friends to admire.  Maybe a passenger locomotive in a nice, colourful livery.

Even if it does not fit within your modelling time period, you can simply say it's a very special preserved locomotive.  Every time you see it, you will think of your mother.

Happy Birthday when it comes.

Best wishes

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1930s to the 1950s.

It certainly can be done, Bart.  I understand Wickness Models are experts at converting them.

@Chris in Prague has got several; perhaps he can help.

All the very best.

Yes, Douglas at Wickness Models is very experienced at converting Union Mills locos. for DCC fitting and is a big fan of the locos. as they run very well on DC and, if anything, even better on DCC. There can be a slight extra cost for removing metal from inside the tender to fit the DCC chip. Definitely a good investment.

What about the new Farish 8F, if you can get one?

BTW @1936ace in your avatar there's a pic of a vintage fire tender. Is this yours?
