I'm pleased to say I have discharged myself from my Mother's care and so yesterday was reunited with my lovely cat (Hookey) in the comfort of my own house cuddled up together. Owing to the difficulties experienced in my op my eyesight is still not 100% but I do feel heaps better (thanks, Mum!).
Lots of follow up appointments with consultants and my GP to follow, and I can't drive for many months to come, but I'm sure I'll get there.
I have been staggered by the sheer volume and sentiments of this thread so, again, must thank you all, particularly those who sent cards/pressies either directly or via Lawrence (who himself has been off work ill since I went in for my op).
With so much to catch up on I cannot say normal service has been resumed but I'll try and be here with any help and as much banter as I can muster

Not surprised about your eyesight... I heard that an extended sleepover with a bunch of nurses can have that effect.
