Happy thread

[Jack]

Thanks gents!  I've had to sell a lot of things to get the money.

Still, it looks like a beast of a laptop.  I bought an MSI GE70 2OE-238UK.

For anyone who likes these things it has the following:- Intel Core i7 4700MQ 2.4GHz Processor, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card, USB 3.0, HDMI, Bluetooth, 4x 2W HD Speakers, DVD-RW, Windows 8.

1TB HDD!!     Don't forget to change for footnote....

No SSD, not Windows 8.1, only 1Tb not 4. Sounds like last months model

Totally future proofed. No-one will sell anything better next month - it will take until January!!

[Croxy]

Good stuff........with the specs on that it should do you for a while.....

If I had three times the budget......

Problem with these huge SDD/HDD gizmos is that they need to/should be backed up and that's going to take a a fair while.

I have a cloud copy of my important stuff and my clever other half encrypts it so it's secure too.

Apologies going

Just sold my old Canon 85mm lens on eBay for £112

Sad to see the old favourite go, but that's a welcome injection for the N gauge fund

Strange redhead found on Dave G's lawn!

This is the second visit from our local redhead but I'm not sure which 'version' it is.

It made a decent meal from whatever it found in the grass and stayed for a good 10 minutes or so.

I am no expert but my vote goes for the female Green Woodpecker

[port perran]

Yep, I think its a Green Woodpecker.
Did you take that 2nd photo Leo1961?

[tutenkhamunsleeping]

I think the one in the first photo has been gone over with weathering powders

No such luck to be able to take that sort of photo here

A quick Google search revealed a close match to your original though

Eh ?  What do you mean, "which version" ?  Species or sex ?

Def a green woodpecker (rarely seen in my garden, but they're in the area), probably earing ants or chafer bugs.

Exactly!

I'm grateful for the extra information

It was a misty afternoon plus the shot was taken through my kitchen window!
