I am not a fan of the banks, but I have to say when my mother passed some 9yrs ago, all her banking was with Barclays. My brother who lived close had the POA, and together we rocked up at the bank to see them about closing the accounts and sorting the money as per the will.
The young lady who looked after us was excellent.
She explained there was not a lot she could do, but would pass us on to the bereavement team, who would help us through.
However she advised "off the record" to go and withdraw some money if we needed it to pay for the immediate expenses. She would then inform the bereavement the next morning.
By lunchtime the following day we were contacted by the team who helped us through closing the accounts and investments, and transferring it all as per our instructions.
Sometimes, when it works they are ok. Just wish it would work well a lot more.

When my father died suddenly back in 1990, I went to the UK to sort it all out (I'm the only child).

I went to the local Lloyd's bank and said I'd like to close off my father's accounts, please.

Looks like I'm going to have to go the magistrates court to stop the idiots at Ovo applying for a warrant.

Going to be fun when I explain to the beak that Ovo are not the energy provider at that property  :D

I've taken to signing messages to them "Yours, hope you go bankrupt soon" at this point.

Well I looked on Amazon for a new soldering iron and bought one for £40 which had excellent reviews. I even had to get up early this morning because delivery was 7.00am to 1.00pm, it came at 8.15 am.
Well I am angry because, to start with the box looked like it had  been opened. The instructions were clear in good English(chinese made) and it looked ok. I brought it up to the Railway room to set it up, disgusted the power lead would not stay in the socket it was loose and obviously dangerous and a fire risk if I had plugged it in which I didn't. So its going back, so a trip down to Toolstation and I have bought one from there with a small tip and it only cost £14.99, only thing is it's not temperature controlled so I will make do with that one.
