I believe the Aussie expression would be "somewhere between Buckleys and none".
Not sure how it works in NSW, but in VIC that would mean you were probably doing about 51 or 52, they always knock a couple off, to hopefully save people contesting it.

Rules are rules. I'm waiting to hear if I'm going to be prosecuted for spending more than 30 seconds in the middle lane of the M69 before pulling in. This is the price you pay for allowing third party dashcam evidence to be used to catch hardened criminals.

Here we are again. Transport grinds to a halt. Schools are shut. Roads closed off.

I was in Vienna during really bad snowfall. There were signs all over the place for anyone unemployed or wanting extra cash to turn up at a list of locations and help clear the essential stuff and get the trams running etc.

That was quite an interesting approach and seemed to actually work.

Entry to the UK for Dual Nationals:

Apologies if anyone has raised this issue before.

Are those of you living outside of the UK who have dual citizenship (UK and something else,) aware that from February 25th you have to have a UK passport to enter the UK?

An ETA will no longer be acceptable, despite some of us having paid for one last year which was meant to last for 2 years.

Since I haven't had a valid UK passport since 2003, I will now have to go through the rigmarole of applying for one from scratch, at vast expense and hassle.

Meanwhile my wife, who was not born in the UK and is not a UK citizen, can travel to the UK with an ETA which costs 16 pounds.

Is it a revenue gathering exercise? But I can't believe they make much money out of passports.

I have been struggling ever since I found out about this in November to think of what problem they are trying to solve by making this rule.

And I wasn't even born on the mainland of the UK, but in Guernsey!

I must admit I was not aware of this, I will be going back in September and would have just gone on my Aussie passport.
Will have to find out how to apply for one now, as I haven't had one for over 15yrs.
As you say it sounds very much like a revenue raising excercise.

This is one of the topics which has recently been much discussed by members of the British Overseas Voters Forum (FYI before anyone thinks this is bringing politics to this place- it is not, the BOVF in not aligned with any party but campaigns for a better deal on behalf of all Brits living overseas). Well worth getting involved with them - either to participate or just simply lurk and listen to the discussions about what is happening...

I was also talking to a friend of mine recently about visa's and he has Canadian citizenship. On his last visit to Canada, he couldn't get the ETA equivalent for Canada and had to get a full Canadian passport. His wife on the other hand could travel on her NZ passport with an ETA.
Will follow this and see what happens.

Strange about the passport thing, especially about your wife being able to enter with an ETA.

US requires passport for all, AFAIK.

Oh, glad I saw this thread as my passport expires this year...

Sorry, to clarify, in view of Kisojiji's post:
My wife can travel to the UK on her New Zealand passport with an ETA.
I also have a NZ passport, which is what I have been travelling on for many decades as I nearly always travel with her. I eventually decided some years back that it wasn't worth renewing the UK passport in view of this.
The point is that as I am also a UK citizen, they will now not allow me to travel on my NZ passport, even if I have already got a valid ETA.
I haven't as yet tried the process of getting a new UK passport myself, but I understand that it can be quite a hassle, especially if your last one expired more than 10 years ago.

I'm a Canadian with Australian citizenship also, but was born in Scotland (left when I was three). About 5 years ago, I decided on a trip to Canada planning to use my Australian passport in and out. Quite by accident a month before I left, I found out that Canada had changed its entry rules a few months previously to me requiring a Canadian passport to enter the country as seems to be required for UK citizens entering Britain now. I picked up my freshly minted Canadian passport at the Canadian High Commission here in Canberra and asked the officer how would Canadian Immigration know I was Canadian as my listed POB is Glasgow. He replied that 'they just know'. In other words, passports or not, the system keeps track of you. This begs the question as to whether this extra passport requirement may be a revenue raising exercise.
