It is with extreme sorrow I have to inform the forum members of the passing away of 'Malc', who succumbed in his battle against cancer yesterday.
My thoughts, and I'm sure those of the membership, are with Malc's wife, Jenny, family and friends at this very sad time.
It's scary when TV ads tell us 1 in 2 of us will contract the awful disease which took Malc away from us, and we can only hope research will lead to some form of cure.

Malc joined the forum in July 2011 (just 2 months after myself) and had posted over 5500 times
I first met Malc at TINGS in 2014 and he can be seen far right in this group mugshot picture.

I then met him again at the Stafford show in 2017 and have cropped a group mugshot picture to provide this photo of Malc in happy and healthier times.

Malc's forum signature was his usual humour:-
The years have been good to me. It was the weekends that did the damage.

Malc and I shared very similar musical tastes and I'll be playing the Yes track 'Starship Trooper' in his memory tonight as it was ever one of his favourites.

My grateful thanks go to @daveg for keeping me up to date on Malc

That is indeed very sad news.

Malc had been a forum stalwart for many a year and although we never met, I feel as though I knew him.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Very sad news indeed, my sincere condolences to Malc's family and friends.

I really can't remember exactly when I first met Malc.

Looking back over 2000 odd emails between him and me, the oldest is November 2016 but we were chatting via the Forum before that.

In recent years we'd regularly meet up. Most often he and wife Jenny would drive down to us in Worcester when we'd head off to enjoy a good lunch and sometimes a brief running session on my layout, Hurst Hill.

Malc was always more than generous advising on 'things electrical'. Just as well as I'd pick his brains mercilessly being a total muppet when something wouldn't work!

More than grateful that we became friends. I shall miss him.

Sad loss. Condolences to Jenny and to others who knew him personally.

Sad news indeed. I have never met Malc in person (the intention was to meet up on my 2023 trip, but for various reasons it didn't happen - which of course I now deeply regret), but I feel like I know him.

I last got an email from him at the end of March, and he informed me of the situation in January, so it's all happened quickly.

We share a common interest in electronics. I sent him an Australian computer kit a few years ago, and a Gameboy kit from the same source, which he had started on.

When late member trainsdownunder designed an arc welder kit, he sent one to Malc and I to beta test.

We are also both Durham lads, with the same sense of humour - he would regularly supply me with jokes, most of which could not be aired on the forum!

I will sorely miss him.

My thoughts are with Jenny and his family at this time.

RIP, Malc. You were a good man.

I only met Malc once very briefly at the TINGS meeting in that photo from Mick .

I never met Malc in person but came the beneficiary of his very kind generosity.
