Love the E units, now do you have some lovely heavyweight passenger cars to go with them :)

Just arrived from Robbie's Rolling Stock  :claphappy:

Very pleased with them, will have to ask if he can do some more brewery vans, Strongs, Brickwoods, Hall & Woodhouse, Eldridge Pope, Devenish & Groves spring to mind. Oh dear I've brought my thirst on  :beers:  Oh the bare board is the long awaited (by me) extension section, cheers for now.

Graham

I have a tight squeeze on my layout that does not allow such long cars to pass, so I'm passenger car-less.
Spend as little as possible on what you need so you can spend as much as possible on what you want.

Well I sold my GS4 Daylight Southern Pacific after some deliberation and immediately replaced it with a new

Broadway Limited Imports E7 AB set.

http://youtu.be/VdFwIKPB1fY

Was it a good decision -- you bet. Love this new diesel and the sound it generates.

But wait there's more........

Not only did I get the Daylight diesel but also managed to get a deal on a Santa Fe set with sound in both A and B units.

Total damage for both the Daylight and SF sets ...... $400 inc postage

The decoders produce all the usual noises. However something I wasn't aware of is the extra sounds that are mapped to the function buttons.

Ever hear a loco sound like a chicken ..... Listen to the video.

http://youtu.be/Wi9WSlClgns

http://youtu.be/jjAK35US9sE

Yes the decoder did play farm noises, city noises, freight yard noises and announcements.

The complete list of standard sounds/Functions (link to manual http://www.broadway-limited.com/support/manuals/Paragon2%20Diesel%20Operators%20Manual.pdf)

Nice one Colin, lovely locos and an interesting set of sounds.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

The "enviroment sounds" are quite good but are not overly long which whilst great for a bit of ambiance get a little lost because of this. I suppose with use of the recordable Macro facility it may be possible to trigger them at appropriate intervals/layout position.

Quote
Macro Recording (F26 and F27)
When operating in DCC, the operation of the locomotive can be recorded and later played back. To use this function, press F27.
Press F26 to replay. During replay, the DCC controller cannot control the engine. To interrupt the playback, either interrupt track power, or press the emergency stop
button.
CV 238 controls the number of times the recording will repeat, between 1-14 times by setting the value to 64 plus the number of repeats. Setting CV 238 to 79 makes the recording repeat indefinitely. The timing of the loop can be shortened by setting CV239. Its range is from 0-255. Each number shortens the loop by 0.1 seconds. The engine contains a pre-recorded sequence. To load it, set CV8 to a value of 10. Then press F26 to play. This works well for demonstrations and will repeat ndefinitely if CV238 = 79.
