Network Rail branded MK2 JJA Auto ballasters exclusive to Rails now in stock

Nice to see these available again, bravo Rails!

Tom.

Great to see, a real shock as didn't expect to see them again considering the detail of these wagons.

Only problem is it's 300 quid for a rake of 4 non genny and 1 genny wagon!

And if like all previous releases seemed to have been, they don't manufacture sufficient quantities of each type to make up standard rakes.

I wonder if Rails have had the savvy to consider this, lets hope so.

Cheers  :beers:

Almost the same as the £327 I paid for a similar length rake of 13 15' Conflat Ps then. No argument. That's the going rate.

AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

With impeccable timing for us foreigners and expats both the Farish 90's and now these. My Christmas and Birthday list is already purchased and delivered so this lot have arrived too late.
Now I'm faced with a last minute flight to Sheffield, or maybe I can send my son over from Stockport, but I've spent all the money.

AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

I'm going to go and have a lie down

I know exactly how you feel. I sooooo want some of these, but SWMBO has recently commented "dont you have enough trains now" which as we all know means STOP.

No, no, no, it means "darling don't you need a new pair of shoes/handbag/some jewellery?".

Surprised to see these emerge. I'll resist, but I'm really excited about the implications of Rails commissioning unannounced Farish models!

I used something similar, and promised to work some more to pay for them, managed to order a set. One day I will go back to full retirement, but then how would I pay for all the stock I want.

@njee20 Off topic a bit but there is a precedent with Kernow's class 31 announced Nov '22

Sort of, but that was a newly released model, where they just commissioned a new livery. The JJA has been long out of production (10+ years?), and has been resurrected by Rails, after Bachmann have explicitly said they wouldn't be re-running them, and in a livery they've not previosuly been offered in.

Although it's interesting to note Bachmann said the same of the IPA car carriers in OO, and have now re-run those, albeit as a Collector's Club special.

TomE

Bachmann were probably not confident they could shift a full production run at the price point they needed to be given the assembly complexities, but if Rails are willing to stump up for a limited run then there is no reason not to produce them. Fair play to Rails, they are putting a lot of investment and faith in to N Gauge of late and I hope that's appreciated by N Gauge Modellers.

I'd half expected these to reappear as club exclusives around the £65-£70 mark.

Yes, I was wondering that. Possibly unweathered, as a slight differentiation from RoS's offering.

Totally agree that it's awsome to see.

steadfast

I put in my order for 5, despite trying (and often failing!) to be sensible while on trainee money. Dipped in the savings and since Mrs Wife had asked if there was anything else I wanted for Xmas I asked if she'd contribute towards these and then she could wrap them. Her face when she got a (true! ) answer to how much I'd spent... priceless! Though she did seem to grasp the rarity and how the increased Chinese labour costs made the prices rise from the first batch.

I've been toying with the idea of a new modern layout after all I created for Clifton Wood, I've bought and built a few wagons but these were a must.

At TINGS RoS had an original set of 5 with a generator at £270. I refused to buy them, went to the NGS with the confidence if they had a rake to build I'd buy them. They didn't have any stock so I trudged back to RoS knowing I had to spend big.

They'd sold them!

A couple of weeks ago I made the decision to fit a new kitchen after Christmas and that meant all new layout funding was spent buying integrated appliances.

Then this BOMB DROP  :censored: I'd love a rake but I'll have to enjoy seeing everyone else's!!

jpendle

So I've already got the Railtrack liveried generator wagon plus one non-gen.

As far as I can tell the Network Rail livery is just a yellow panel with the Network Rail logo over the Railtrack Blue panel.

I think that I can repaint mine to match the RoS ones, or alternatively maybe someone could come up with vinyls or transfers to do the job for me, @captainelectra @steadfast

Of course matching the weathering will be a bit of a bother!

John P
