11 male players wanted for a team called 'England's mens team'

Key skills required:-

An ability to both see and hit the ball such that it misses any fielders
An ability to discern when/when not to play a shot such as 'reverse sweep' or 'scoop'
An ability to know a test match can, and frequently does, run for 5 days
An ability to concentrate on the cricket rather than pose on down with designer shades
An ability to know cricket caps can be washed so as to avoid sweat stained rags on heads

The problem is that the current XI are  the best that we have.

Trouble is, when the Yorkshiremen have an off day, there's no one else to back them up... :P

Now that's a controversial statement, many would not agree

Coyote

We have the best players in our team, just need to find the correct conditions and a weak opposition.

Oooh, fighting talk ...  but not for me.

Unfortunately, while we live a couple of miles from Lancashire's ground and my son (a student) temporarily lives with 1/2 mile of Yorkshire's ground, neither of us are interested in cricket :(

Is it that bad?
We have this Summer beaten New Zealand and India in Tests.
OK we lost, badly, to South Africa  but let's see what happens in the rest of the series before we write England off.
I still prefer red ball cricket to the shorter forms and I'm hopeful that 5 day test cricket can survive.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Don't worry, Martin, it will.

Here, the locals love tests!

Very much a hollow victory knowing how pathetic the opposition is, wouldn't you say??
