the only option would be some tents, a load of barbed wire, and some compo rations on Salisbury plain.
...........
especially if there were live firing exercises all round

>:D :)

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Mr Sprue

In the last lockdown I had three big tear ups in our local Tesco over social distancing and pr*cks not following the direction arrows stuck on the floor.

The cocky 25 ish year old shite clutching his cluster of "wife beaters" who wound me up got close to getting something he didn't bargain for, bricked it and backed down, the store fell silent for a moment in my response to him.

Completely agree with everyone concerned, its no laughing matter especially as the flu and cold season is upon us.

Why Salisbury Plain? That's too close to me thank you. How about on the Solent island fort not converted into a hotel. There's still 1 available to put them all on together so they can spread whatever they have between them?

Why give them shelter? Open air's supposedly better.

I nominate Rockall - should be enough room for them (just) at low tide. If there isn't, the overcrowding will be solved come high tide  :D

Trainfish

They want to be close to each other so less open air is more suited to their wishes. There's a good mix of both on this one.

And what we have left of the navy could use it as shooting practice too

sod the restrictions, survival of the fittest has kept mankind intact for a good few years. So you avoid covid by living a nice isolated  lifestyle keeping 2 meters away from everybody, remember that includes family members who don't live with you  so dont start complaining that you cant give your grandaughter a hug  ,you took the isolated option. And whats the point of prolonging your life anyway  if you cant enjoy it?were all guaranteed a death at some point, make the most of it
freedom of speech is but a  fallacy.it dosnt exist here

For what its worth being an absolute southerner and a sailor I could quite easily live on one of of them!  :-[

Trainfish

Me too but not that one. Mind you a great roundy roundy layout could be created

I could live on this one.

Never heard of those converted places before.  Magnificent!
I could happily isolate on those for a few weeks.  Wonder what the fishing is like?
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

I had a grandstand view of the TRAFALGAR review from one courtesy of a donation I made to a young homeless persons charity.  Champaign and creamed teas, very nice.

I'm not a fisherman but I did agree many years ago whilst in the pub to go sea fishing with some mates, as you do. They told me the bus would leave at 5am on the day in question. What they didn't tell me until about 1am was that it was 5am that day! Needless to say we kept drinking until the minibus got to the pub and piled on with more beer. On arrival we got into a silly little boat and went fishing. If I remember correctly there were 8 of us. 7 threw up over the side and we caught 1 dogfish between us. Surprisingly we brought quite a bit of beer back with us too.

So in my opinion, the fishing there is rubbish  :o

Things are looking up here in QLD.  Can now travel to northern rivers districts in NSW, just need to stick a permit on the dash and wait for a little bit in a queue as permits to re-enter QLD are sighted.  No 2 week quarantine required.  Wonder how long this will last. :(

Had a little bit of delay last Friday as I had a "G" permit, not an "X" permit.  I had printed the permit on wednesday night at a little after 11pm but the "X" permit replaced the "G" permit at midnight, nothing mentioned this on gov website and the permit was marked as valid for 7 days.  Apparently quite a few people were caught out.  The police were quite polite and patient (probably having done this dozens of times) and helped us to fill out the correct forms on our mobile phones.

So what's the difference between a G and an X?  :confused2:
