With a RRP of £199 i am very much thinking of making a small O guage layout featuring the announced Dapol 08, i know everyone else will be too but i love 08's and i may get one just with a display case,,,,,,

you are mad!!!!

if you do this you'll then want a class 31, or a class 26, and next thing you'll want larger locos and have to buy a deltic! then £5k later you'll have a full fleet of O gauge!!!!!

unless you are very rich pull back from the brink!!!!

That makes 3 of us for the nut house then.
0 gauge on the whole doesn't appeal to me but.......a gronk shunting a wagon or two
on a micro layout does get me seriously considering it..... :NGAUGE:

Then of course the "micro" layout will be out through the shed wall and a quick lap of the garden...  Where to then???

Not sure on this. Some 15 years ago I went for some 4mm bits as compared to N gauge the close-detail is better plus I do like doing some shunting with loose coupled freight. I mainly utilise kit built stock. To this end I have a couple of shunting layouts where I use 3 link chains for coupling plus a garden railway where I can sit back and watch trains go by. My primary railway is N gauge but the larger scale sees the odd outing.
My thinking here is puerly on cost. Whilst the loco is being priced at not that much more than some N Gauge stuff, look at the cost of rolling stock. An example being £3-6 for peco n gauge wagon kits, £6-10 for a Ratio 00 wagon kit then jumping to £35 for  Peco 0 gauge kit. That is one hell of a jump, so I would be thinking about the bigger picture before making this jump.
However, should Dapol do an 0 gauge GWR pannier, forget the above and just jump!!!!!

Your not mad mate I dream about having a big house with a big basement so I can run a big O Gauge layout.

If it ever happens I will donate my N gauge stuff the the Salvation Army

Now that is mad

Had a mad O gauge moment a few years ago, a much modified MSL EM1 was the result.
It wasn't a cheap excercise, then waited 3 years for it to be finished as the kit needed some work as was virtually the 4mm etches blown up but what a machine. Every single grill was hand made, has full interior and selectable marker lights under each cab.

My uncle, the O gauge man in the family, did the honours and its museum standard. Gets a run out now and again at Alsager Railway Association. Lost the rest of my O gauge in divorce but kept then N! :-\ :-\ :-\ :smiley-laughing:

i can't believe that an O gauge mk1 coach is £230!!!

i love O gauge, but N gauge is better for running full length trains, and collecting large amounts of rolling stock...

If I had the money I'd buy one as well. An 08 with a couple of wagons sounds great for my lounge :smiley-laughing:

I'm having a nightmare? Are people really talking about 0 gauge 08s?
