I'd certainly be very keen. I can imagine them being upwards of £30 a coach for the set as tooling costs have gone up since the gresley and there would be less demand for re-runs (how many pullmans can a layout need?) but I'd still buy a rake or two at that price, and a load of singles for less specialised boat trains too!

My layout is LMS but I have some LNER, GWR & SR locos.

Although I do have a rake of LNER coaches and a rake of GWR coaches a rake of vintage Pullmans would be welcome to provide a bit of variety behind my non-LMS locos.

Oooh, loads @Capri_sam!  They are the sort of coach that people just love to own IMHO and will find an excuse.  Plus, most people who had a Hornby train set in the youth probably had their wooden Pullmans.

;)

Kind regards

I noticed on the Bayofevil that there is a Guy in Croatia selling decals for the sides of the old K coaches

Anyone used them, do they off the sort of improvement they seem to looking at his photographs

Hi @N_GaugeModeller
They look good on a layout and I am surprised Farish or Dapol have not bitten the bullet and produced modern K type Pullmans.  These Pullman cars would fit well with Dapol's collection of Pacific locomotives.

Ah well, I am sure the manufacturers know best.

Paddy

I agree, you would think a popular carriage which spans the best part of a century would be a no-brainer, especially for these new manufacturers getting into the market looking for a safe bet. Make more sense to me than a complex 2-6-0+0-6-2 Steam locomotive  :hmmm:

Indeed, as good as the MetCam Mk1 pullmans are I would love a rake of 7 K types for the Golden Arrow.

I think a proper 7 car Golden Arrow special edition set with proper coach names and table lamps for £300 would sell a very good number.

We had a rake of 7 plodding round our train set behind a Poole Bulleid at a recent show and from a normal viewing angle (hopefully in a video below) they still looked quite nice, even among the more detailed much younger stock it shared the line with and didn't look very out of place. They would certainly be replaced with an up to date version, should every some appear though. As will that Bulleid if Dapol get their skates on.

No idea if it would be the same decals, but I did see some that had some sort of additional printed side at a show a few years back. They may of been poorly applied but I wasn't convinced it was much of an improvement over the standard look up close, and hardly made a difference passing at speed.

@Upperton yeah they do look very good still.

We have the rake of 7 all with the proper Golder Arrow Fleche D'or logos and correct names complete with 2cct for luggage but to have a brand new build over these, which I spent a small fortune on over 10years ago on 70s stock, would make an amazing sight behind the GF Merchant Navy, as were missing a slightly smaller loco  :'(

Paddy

Hi @Upperton

Have to agree about Hatton's Beyer Garratt.  I am sure it will be a lovely model but seems a risky subject?  May be I am missing the point and it will sell like hot cakes.

As for the replacement transfers, Precision Labels makes them as well...
