My step-daughter in Somerset has just reported that her local branch of Sainsbury has a new display rack of Easter eggs!  Not the big ones, yet, but little ones definitely marked with 'Easter' logos and advertising.

  ??? >:(

Said it before, but when I was truck-driving for the main supermarkets we started delivering Easter Eggs one week BEFORE Christmas so that two days before the holiday started the "seasonal" aisle could be remerchandised ;)

I saw my first easter chocolates in the M&S by my work last Friday. Easter stuff, with Christmas songs playing!

So Paul, when did you used to make the first Christmas deliveries?

I do recall John Lewis once having a full Christmas department as early as August one year back in the early '80's.

Usually started end of August, again so that a few days before the school holidays ended the "garden chairs and barbecues" aisle could be turned into the "Christmas aisle"

I used to work for a packaging company which produced the foil for Christmas and Easter novelties.
Production of Christmas foils started in February and Easter foils in August for delivery to the likes of Nestlé, Cadbury, Mars etc ready for the next years season.

Why does none of this surprise me
After all Christmas started on the adverts and in the shops around October.
I love Christmas but want to start thinking about it maybe beginning December, but after 6 weeks of Christmas adverts was fed up of it by the time December started.

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.
