What a day

Hi,

Well the title says it all. Woke up this mnornign to find part of my tree hanging over the neighbours wall. Spent an hour and a half in howling winds cutting it up and tidying up the mess.

Went to the shops to get milk and bread and an engine warning light came up in the car.

The to cap it all we lost satellite signals. Thought it was due to adverse winds but no, all neighbours were getting signals. A diagnostic check on the box showed an external fault with the dish. So out with the ladders, again. After cheking all cables I thought it had been blown out of alingment. Ended up it was the cable box below the receiver which had worked it way loose. Signals ok now.

Now sitting down to our tea. Going to spend the rest of the evening modelling. That can't go wrong. Can it?

Back to work tomorrow. Things can only get better.

it has been quite a day weather wise hasn't it, i was watching my shed at the bottom of the garden nervously today as its in the shadow of a massive tree, luckily not so much as a bit of roof felt out of place, hope the engine light is nothing too expensive, i had and fuel injection warning last week so my motor is in the garage this week for a meeting with a diagnostics computer,

Hi Fratton,

The cars under a year old so it will be covered by the warranty.

My neighbour has one of those diy shop metal sheds. Sorry, I should have said he had a metal shed. All that's left is the base and the contents.

A couple round the corner from us had their front wall blown down. It's just a pile of rubble now.

It's not so windy now so hopefully the worst is behind us.

Not so much the weather for me, just a case of Southern's class 377s breaking down all over the shop. Both my morning and evening trains have been cancelled.

My father-in-laws greenhouse was totally flattened. Just a twisted heap if metal and plastic.

My gas meter cupboard door was blown off with both lugs snapped off top and bottom. Luckily it didn't rain into it (dunno whether there's anything can short in there). I have placed it back and shoved a heavy wheelybin in front of it, but does anyone know where I can get a replacement door?

Dashed odd. Our block usually sways in the wind like one of those punchball thingies. A reserve game was cancelled at St. James Park just a few hundred yards away because of the wind, but our ceiling lamps haven't moved an inch (they usually swing around too).

Hi Mark - ta muchly for the link but the door they sell states pin hinges not included. As I still have the door I would be better off trying to get some sprung pin hinges (save me a repaint too). Thanks again
