... or how things can descend into chaos...

We had a small under-worktop freezer which we brought from my parents' house when Mum decided to move into a care home 12 years ago. It gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago, so we chucked out the spoiled food and decided to buy a new one. We knew it had to have been at least 20 years old, and if, as I suspect, it was bought when Dad was still working, it would be 37 years old. No complaints there...

Anyhow, we looked at our tall freezer and fridge, which were also nearly 20 years old and decided it was time to replace them too. We bought bigger ones so that we could cram all our frozen stuff into one freezer. All good so far. Oh yes, except that the microwave used to sit on the small freezer and there's nowhere to put it now...

We then decided to shift a few things round in the kitchen, including some wall cupboards which were too low to put the new fridge and freezer under. It was about this point when my dearly-beloved said "The paint could do with freshening up a bit." Off to Do-It-Worse to get some paint and timber for some new shelves.

In the meantime, we discovered the breakfast table and chairs got in the way of the fridge door. "We've had that table 20 years", we said, "looking very shabby..." Down to the reclamation shop for a new table. "We never use the tumble dryer now," we said, "it's just taking up space. Let's get rid of that. Put some drawers in to lose some of the c**p." That's still to do, along with finding somewhere for the microwave, but I'm starting to feel a little residual affection for that old freezer.

Must go, more painting to do...

Cheers,

Chris

Each can do but little, BUT if each did that little, ALL would be done!

Life is like a new sewer pipe, what you get out of it depends on what you put into it!

A day without laughter is a day wasted!

What about the ceiling ?
And a new cooker ?
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Have you ever thought you may be psychic? That very suggestion was put to me, probably at the same time as you hit 'Post'.

The new cooker was last year. Please keep quiet about the ceiling...  :-X

Or a new wife  :o

Well, yes, in a manner of speaking! After 20 years working out whether we could live with each other, Blanche and I have decided we are getting married next year. No need to rush these things....

Cheers,

Chris
