Just finished mowing the lawn. It's 103 degrees!

  Yes, true...

I had food poisoning last week that knocked out for four days. Then my 48-hour shift. So, I was sort of painted into a corner. It was cool(er) when I started.

Definitely haven't mown ours in a month. Our corners are very different.

That's pretty steep. Are you sure you used a mower not an excavator

Ours is a wildlife garden - so it'll get clobbered later in the year for the most part to simulate what would happen if there were goats and pigs and the like present.

Much easier to maintain much cooler and full of life. Got inch long grasshoppers all over the place.

So is ours, but not intentionally so... 

We currently have an unwanted visitor - a resourceful rat, more likely a family of them. They have been around for years and apart from occasionally raiding the compost bins they haven't bothered us much. Now, however, he/she has found its way into the greenhouse. The tomatoes are ripening and I think 'I'll pick those tomorrow' and by the next day they are gone. We've found how he is getting in and we think we have stopped up the hole temporarily, but we won't be able to do a permanent job until the tomatoes are finished and we can clear the greenhouse.

Before you ask, no, the dogs are absolutely useless! The cat we used to have wasn't much better. All she used to do was find voles in the woods and bring them back for our old dog because she thought he was needy.

They never tell you about things like this on Gardeners' World.

I was wondering how to spend the first 2 weeks of August, some country walks, visit the odd preserved railway etc but, no, 2 weeks jury service with the joy of trying to negotiate the 15 miles of gridlock to Lewes for 9am every day.
I love the invitation: You have been "selected", have 7 days to respond to the summons and if not could be committing a criminal offence and fined up to £1000 all in bold type.

And it gets worse. Being retired they now expect me to sit on a 4 week trial. I could make up reasons why I can't but they want evidence to back up any claims.
Words cannot sum up how angry I am about this.

In Scotland and N.Ire it's 71 and in England and Wales it's 75 before you're exempt. WHY?
I won't be safe until I'm 76 so 2 1/2 years

I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Dapol CL68, sound fitted, in TPE livery even though Dapol won't ship to the US.

"Felix" was just £150, so a real bargain.

My son and our grandchildren just came over so they brought it with them.

I just tried it out and it runs like a dream and the sound project sounds pretty good to me.
BUT I already have 2 TPE liveried CL68's 

For some reason I thought that I just had the one.

Old age is catching up on me

A good problem?

I too wanted one of those bargains but was stymied by Dapol.
