When I worked for the Beeb, I used to get letters demanding payment for a TV license. Each time I responded by saying we didnít require one. After a few years of this I got fed up and called them. The guy I spoke to told me his wife was a great Archers fan and if I could get her some publicity info, he could get us off the mailing list. A quick call into the Archers office and a large envelope in the post and we were off the list. Please note, I donít think this works for anyone else.
I'm not sure if life is passing me by, or trying to run me over.

What gets me riled about the declaration is they have us down 3 times in their records and despite several assurances that it has been corrected we inevitably get 3 separate threatening letters.

Being driven bonkers by passwords. :veryangry: In this electronic age you seem to need a password for almost everything including this forum and remembering them is a real test, unless they are all the same which is inadvisable. I store mine in an app on my iPad but if that were to get stolen I'd be in trouble so I need to back them up on a piece of paper which isn't safe either but trying to remember them all is the worst and I'm not even senile yet  ???

if you're using an iPad, switch on iCloud Keychain storage. Then all your passwords are stored securely on iCloud, which means you can use it to auto-fill most web ones and access them in an emergency (from any of your devices ). If you've switched 2 factor authentication on then nobody is going to get access to them if the device is stolen (especially if you've got Find my iPad on, because you can remote lock it)

Besides that, you live in South Africa at the moment don't you? Don't you have flamethrowers fitted to your iPad for security like they do on the cars there? :)

No real flame throwers on cars here but sometimes we could do with them! Leaving SA for good on Sunday. In a recent robbery my iPad wasn't stolen but my phone and laptop were, they had lots of passwords on them so everything had to be changed, adding to the confusion.

Well safe journey and a happy landing wherever you plan to be, Veronica.

Hope you'll still be on the Forum, too.

Either use a password manager, meaning you need only remember one password, or take a unique attribute from the site the password is for; so have NGFpassw0rd or BBCpassw0rd or whatever - easy to remember and unique by site.

Aaaaand remember that despite what we're told, longer and simple is far harder to crack than short and complex. A sentence is immeasurably better than throwing random symbols and numbers into the mix.

If you want to check how secure your password is you can do so here

I don't think I'd wanna be entering any of my passwords into a site not known to me !!!  ;)
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

@silly moo
Are you sad to be leaving SA, Veronica, and where are you heading to (if you don't mind me asking, of course)?

Passwords a real pain, in a financial office I worked in we had to change our personal
passwords every week, some people used the football league teams which gave about
100 weeks worth, I used the books of the bible and kept a bible in my desk bookmarked.
No matter the system chosen the humourless techhead who was the  it administrator
wanted us to have passwords like Q2>Jn67??87Wx.....needless to say he was ignored !

I use loco names and number and keep a book of them near my computer. Then when I need a password I have a diary in which I just enter the number to remind me.
KISS = Keep it simple stupid
